Where do I buy venison?
Posted by: YeeHaw ()

Hello -

I want to buy some venison. Where can I go to buy some? I don't really know anyone that hunts and I'm not a hunter so that's not really an option.

Thanks.

Either get yourself a rifle, shotgun, bow, or crossbow and head for the
hills before the season's over. Dont forget to get yourself a license.
You can buy some "commercial"

http://www.oldworldvenison.com/

If this wont do, find one thats "fresh killed" on the FFx Cty Pkw.

If you are looking for the better cuts and don't mind paying the price try Wegman's or Whole Foods. They sell venison tenderloin and chops that are good quality. Not cheap though.

Wegman's or Whole Foods? Really? I've looked there in the past and never seen it. I did see some frozen gator at Wegman's once though. I'll have to ask someone behind the counter.

Thanks!

Balducci's in McLean also has it in stock sometimes.

I hunt. I'll sell you the deer that I kill.

It's seasonal so it's not always there. I'm about to drop by Wegman's--I'll see what they have right now.

Foodie -

That's great - thanks. I'm about to drop by Whole Foods.

Wegman's doesn't appear to have any at the moment. I've seen it at Whole Foods though in the last few weeks...

Whole Foods had pre-packaged venison steaks (about $15 a piece) and ground venison.

Thanks for checking it out.

Springfield butcher keeps a good supply of venison. I buy it frequently from there.

Wednesday night our fine FCPD had pulled over a nice buck on LRT going west just after you go over the 495 overpass. Another patrol car showed up and they moved the buck which was sitting on the road over the guard rail, it must've been hit. It was a big buck though and looked funny at first sight looking up at the patrolman and his spotlight while sitting in the road. Poor thing!
