Good Bye, Sharon Bulova
Posted by: 2015: The Tyranny Ends ()

It is time for Sharon Bulova to go-and the countdown to her defeat in 2015 begins NOW.

Sharon Bulova is a friend to the rich and beautiful; she has no use for immigrants, the poor, the elderly, or the disabled.

She is, without a doubt, the WORST THING that ever happened to Fairfax County.

Thankfully, her days are numbered…

If she has no use for "immigrants" then why is she rolling out the red carpet for the illegal variety?

Oh, is this the part when the right-wing douches talk smack about local Democratic officials about how THIS time they're comin' to get 'em, and they're gonna toss 'em all out of office, and then it doesn't happen?

I like this part! Who's got the popcorn?

Jose and friends don't like the rules that keep 30 people from living in a house.

Take a deep knee bend, Chaunsey. Our girl, Sharon,is not running for re-election.

Currently, the contenders are Gross (name says it all), McKay (seriously?!) and Foust.

So who gets the prize?

Bulova is far less offensive to most folks than Gerry, which is good for the Ffx Democrats who always start with a built-in advantage.

If Gerry had run county-wide in 09 or 11 he probably would have lost, but he's moved on to bigger things.

I can't imagine who the Republicans will run. Springfield Supervisor Pat Herrity clearly wants to move up, but it's hard to imagine him doing better than he did in that 2009 special (where he came within like half a percent of winning while taking Mt Vernon, Dranesville, Springfield, and Braddock). If he had done a bit better in Hunter Mill, he probably would have won. (btw, isn't resident FFxU'er Brian Schoenemon in Hunter Mill? I'm almost positive he is...Brian? What do you say..)

Maybe John Cook wants to move up? The GOP also really needs to recruit a decent candidate for Dranesville district. 2011 was a good year but Dennis Husch was a joke and was geographically unbalanced (from Herndon instead of the Great Falls/McLean portion of the district).

Sharon Bulova has been on the B.O.S. a long time and also a long time now as Chairman.

Personally she is a nice lady and she has supported fair treatment for all in Fairfax Co. Her policys have tended to be more then fair to some . If she retires I will not be suprised because of the time she has served. But thats it, not that shes not going to win another term.

She started out as a staffer for Audrey Moore another nice lady who did much for Fairfax Co. We can thank her for the Wakefield Park which Audrey saved from development back in the 60's

Sharon Bulova as said was a staffer and only became political when urged to do so. I think she has done a great job over the years for Fairfax Co in some trying times and I thank her even though my national politics decision are that I always vote for Republicans in Federal and State elections. And yes in Fairfax County elections I voted for her as Chairman of the Board.

I always get a laugh out of Maryland and DC where their head honchos are driven around by police details and squander tons of money like they are an all important "Big Cheese" yet in Fairfax our elected leaders drive their own cars and maintain a low cost profile despite the fact that with over 1 million citizens Fairfax is larger then the Maryland counties or DC.

As a GOPer, I will give her this...she has twice (2010 & 2013 iirc) since she became board chairman constructed a compromise budget with the Republicans on the board while marginalizing her own more left-leaning members (Penny Gross, Gerry Hyland, etc) I may not agree with the final product in those cases but it's clearly better than it otherwise would have been.

This year's real estate tax hike would have been twice as high hand she not worked with the Republicans on the board (led by Cook) to identify cuts. There were definitely other members who didn't favor that approach.

Audrey Moore...there's a name I haven't heard in awhile. Jack Herrity's old nemesis. The good ole' days..

You must be from MD. I'm guessing you're a troll and are trying get a rise from people. What you claim above is exactly why I love Sharon Bulova. Go back to Montgomery County.

Well, I will follow this with interest. I certainly enjoyed all the posts on that last school board election (esp. the ones about Jane Strauss and Catherine Lorenze (whatever happened to her anywyay). So FU has some of the most interesting political commentary possible!

Bulova needs to go. Her mix of statism and incompetence is ruining Fairfax. Once she is gone, her monument should be a bare bag.

I'm in Braddock. Which is good for me as I am one of the lucky few to have a Republican Supervisor representing me.

I seem to recall the chairperson making a big deal over going out the day they registered the homeless last spring. Wasn't this sort of a "beard" for taking the registration list and telling the county cops to deal with the problem, like escorting them homeless mostly white folks to the county line?

Has she ever proposed a memorial to soldiers from fairfax county who have died in the last 2 wars this country has fought in? Or is that too impolitically correct for a democrat?

Ha! I won't be moving any time soon. And considering the amount of crap I gave Dave for that move, I won't be feeding into the "politicians are all hypocrites" line by following his example. :)

that liberal bitch should be tarred and feathered in front of the old FFX Co court house, and her screams recorded for posterity and future liberals with stupid ideas.

oh yea? if she can have the county flip $150,000 for taking down opponents signs ?

if certain council members can get on the council without running against anyone ?

if she (now) has allot of "undocumented" friends in falls church to vote her back in?

I think it should be like VA governor. limited term.

anyway. certainly writing some blog isn't going to do anything either way.

I believe that certain board members, whom were at the time of the following suspicion, abused their position on the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Group, for personal gain. Sharon Bulova is a member of this group. Here is the suspicion: Two board members, Bill Mountjoy and William H. Gary, Sr. "scratched" each other's backs. (Bill) Mountjoy’s daughterand also his common-law wife obtained paid positions as professors teaching at Northern Virginia Community College during the time when William Mountjoy and William H. Gary, Sr. were board members together on The Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board. This is a non-profit, tax exempt organization. Board members for non profit tax status organizations cannot use the organization or its members for personal gain, such as obtaining paid positions for either themselves or family members. A person in my group recently made this complaint to Sharon Bulova’s office but the complaint was deem unfounded by her office and the complainant received an email stating that unless the complainant identified themselves, no further investigation would take place. This is absolutely untrue and an abuse of power.

" has no use for immigrants, the

Sure they have use for them as in useful idiots come election time. They throw these folks a bone to chew on for a bit. After they get elected they only want to see them when they are cutting their grass or for a photo op. Do you really think Gerry Connolly would stand for the house next to him having fifteen illegals living in it with ten cars on the lawn?

TO EThics: Oh I get it. William H Gary is from Northern Virginia Community College high up on the chain. And his is also a board member ons on the same board (The northern Virginia workforce investment group) along with William mountjoy and Sharon Bulova. You suspect the William gary gave Mountjoy's daughter and wife a job at NVCC to help out his buddy...pulling a favor of the northern Virginia workforce investment group's job duties...to find work for others and since they are all three on the this board, giving jobs to family members would be illegal and unethical and would hurt the tax exempt service. You complained to Sharon Bulova's office and you think she didn't want the negative press so she squashed the idea and didn't investigate or found it "unfounded." This seems par for the course for those who are rich and powerful and sit on boards and abuse their positions on the boards for personal gain under the prowess of Tax exempt. Sounds like it's time for an investigation by the IRS.

Ethics: I know about this. My uncle who is on the same board told me about this. Sharon doesn't want this to get out because this is a non-profit group and they could use that status. There is a lot of crap that goes on between board members to scratch each other's back but it is kept "hush...hush! My uncle isn't like this and he doesn't respect Sharon either.
