From the FCPS website:
On Monday, Dec. 9, all Fairfax County public schools will be closed, and administrative offices will open at 12 noon. Details.

I'm liking our new Texas cowpoke super more and more.
Calling it the day before means I don't have to get up at 5 am to find out.

YES MRS K your free daycare is closed today....buses will not have to slip and slide on back roads with your little angels yelling and acting out as the driver tries to keep them alive...main roads may be ok but buses drive on ALL roads.....so no daycare is not available......

There should be a 3 hour delay on any Monday that the temperature is 30's or below.
It takes that long to get all the buses started. The other days are not so bad, but after those junkers have sat idle all weekend, they don't want to start.
People think county employees don't do much work, but those guys with the jumper cables are busier than one-armed paperhangers on cool mornings.
