New Shooting Range?
Posted by: shooter ()
Date: December 08, 2008 02:18PM

I heard that a new shooting range just opened up last week somewhere in Fairfax County (or maybe it was in a nearby county). Does anyone know where it is and what the name of it is?

It's in Woodbridge. Thank the VCDL for help getting it approved. They're a great organization (info on range approval in link) http://blog.vcdl.org/index.php?/archives/370-VA-ALERT-Success!-Range-approved!.html

It's called "The Shooters' Range, Inc."

I think it's the Silver Eagle Group. Website: http://www.silvereagle-group.com/

They had an open house this past weekend, but I didn't get out to it. It's off Rt 28 and Waxpool Rd. The site looks pretty flashy, which probably means it's expensive.

The Silver Eagle Group is expensive from what I've read. Here's a thread on it over at opencarry.com

New? The City of Manassas has been around for centuries.

Centuries?

"Manassas Junction was little more than a railroad crossing, but a strategic one, with rails leading to Richmond, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and the Shenandoah Valley. Despite these two Confederate victories, Manassas Junction was in Union hands for most of the war.

"The crossroads grew into the town of Manassas following the war, incorporated in 1873."

There's a shotgun shooting range in Bull Run Park. They have stands with different elevations and use clay pigeons. A little bit of "hick" left in NoVA.

Where did you get that it was 75000 initiation and 350 a month? I just looked at the entire site and it doesn't have pricing information. There do appear to be at least two classes of membership, so if the 75k is an actual cost, perhaps that's for the "Founders" membership and not for "Sportsmen".

Besides, 75k for a membership at a shooting range is idiotic unless ammunition is free, you can try out any kind of gun for free, they let you use automatic weapons, and they give you free food and cristal the entire time you're in the building.

Someone who went to the open house posted the pricing sheet on one of the sites linked in the above post.
Yes, 75k is for the founders membership.
The sportsman initiation fee is $5,000 and I think ~150/mo IIRC.
You don't get very much with that level of membership though.
Not sure you even get unlimited range time.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about this range that makes it so
expensive? I belong to a far cheaper gun club and quite frankly,
I dont know anyone who would be willing to pay that kind of money.
But then again, my friends are not wealthy and neither am I.

I guess it's state of the art air filtration system, fully automated range, lounge, etc make it that expensive.

If the $70,000 price tag is accurate, I expect them to be either federally owned in the next year, or bankrupt.

So, this thread seems to imply that The Shooter's Range, Inc is one and the same as the Silver Eagle Group? I was under the impression that they are separate entities. Silver Eagle Group is in Ashburn and The Shooter's Range, Inc was to replace the burned-out Shooter's Paradise in Woodbridge.

Has anyone heard anything more about The Shooter's Range, Inc? I've seen discussions by many indicating that they drive by the location a couple of times per week and no construction has even started.

Shooter's Paradise was burned out? Like, literally? What happened, besides a fire... obviously.

Silver Eagle is pretty nice. Took my CCW class there. Nice big open store front, snack bar, classrooms, and really nice ranges. Their prices are roughly the same as Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly.

The 70/75k initiation fee is for the 'Founders Club'. I don't know who would pay for it, but apparently the 'club' is full. As a Founders member, you get your own locker, a 'gift' handgun and rifle, they'll clean your car, dryclean your clothes, etc. Still not worth 70k if you ask me.

Has anyone else been to Silver Eagle recently?

Hell no. Why any shooter would support a range that actively promotes politicians that want to eradicate the Second Amendment is beyond my comprehension.

There's no such thing as a CCW in Virginia. Either your instructor sucked or you slept through the class.

Virginia is a shall-issue concealed handgun state, you fucking moron. OK, it's called CHP, but you know exactly what the fuck the poster was talking about. Concealed carry is often called CCW as shorthand, you dumb fuck.

Any more info on this? I thought it was Blue Ridge Arsenal's owner who was a big Obama supporter.

As a CHP holder it always distresses me that basic intelligence or comprehension tests are not required for them. If you can get through a class to carry concealed but don't know what the name of the permit is, that's scary. How is anyone supposed to know how to properly use their firearm if they get two out of three letters wrong when asked to name the permit?

If the application form had one entry asking the applicant to please write down the name of the permit the judge could reject it quickly without having the application forwarded through the vetting process.

I get into national firearms forums such as thefiringline.com
and each state has it's own name for the permit. CCW seems to have
become the generic so I'd give it a pass on the FFU.

The point is that you're a fucking moron.

Go wipe your snotty nose with some fucking Kleenex. Oh wait, facial tissue.

Certain terms, even brand names, become genericized and colloquial.

Like CCW.

You fucking dolt.

I think we all know what's being referred to here. I just wish the press would learn the proper definition of "bullets", "magazines", and "assault rifle".

Yes, BRA's owner is on record as an Obama supporter. Take that FWIW.

SEG's owner is an Obama donor. And a Hillary donor. A Brian Moran donor. A DPV donor.

Who else has SEG's owner donated to?

State Senator Janet Howell
State Delegate Ken Plum
Supervisor Sharon Bulova
Congressman Xavier Becerra
Congressman Gerry Connelly

And before anybody reasonably asks who else has Marquez donated to, the answer is nobody else.

These are all extremely anti-Second Amendment candidates. These are outright ban and confiscatory-minded candidates. These are candidates that are endorsed by Handgun Control Inc / The Bradies.

Combine the donations with the way that Marquez and his staff treated Dick Heller's attorney when he inquired about a membership. "Get him out of here!" was the command many in attendance overheard.

Consider the "elitist" model that Marquez intended for BRA.

Do the math.

SEG's owner can do what he wants with his money. And I do what I want with mine. Not a single dime of mine will ever line that bastard's pockets.

If you want some fun reading, go over to ARFCOM and search for the "Why aren't you shooting at SEG" thread posted by one of SEG's a-hole RSOs. Or even better, innocently post a question about SEG. :)

Has anyone ever dealt with a Michael Green at SEG? Somebody said he was good people, and obviously he's not the owner.
