Posted by: Curious ()

Does anybody know what the deal is with the medieval looking compound off of Henderson Rd. on the left hand side when turning off of 123. Now that the trees are bald you can really see the property?

Isn't it a Mosque or a Buddhist Temple?

Also, what's the deal with the fucking Castle on Highway 15 south of Leesburg?

That castle is a fucking riot. The first time I saw it I had to stop and take a picture it was so ridiculous. It's the type of house the Connor family from the sitcom Roseanne would have bought after they won the lottery.

Yeah it def. looks like a private residence. Almost like the person always said when they were younger that if thay got rich they'd build a castle...and they did. Looking at it from the top does not do it justice you have to see it from the road to see the design + theres about 13-15 different buildings on the property

It seems like a lot of house for just over $1M assessed value.

Wow...that' is assessed at just over a $1 million?

That doesn't seem right, does it? All the McMansions in that area are assessed right a $1 million. Maybe someone should look into that. There are townhouses that are assessed at near that amount.

Remember that assessed value is different from an appraised value. The house last sold in 1996 when property values in Fairfax Station were much lower. They increase the assessment annually but it is likely under-assessed at the moment.

DUDE have you seen this place with your eyes. Or for that matter has anyone else seen the compound in person. Thats the only way to truly appreciate it?

From the satellite view it looks like a HUGE main house with pool along with four outbuildings (servant quarters? guard houses?). I guess that they must have a heavy duty pickup truck with a plow blade for when it snows. Clearing that "driveway" must be a lot of fun when we get a major snowfall.

I live nearby but don't know that I've ever been on that particular stretch of Henderson. I'll drive by next time I get a chance and check it out. Zillow, btw, puts the value at 886k.

It looks like a mansion estate you'd find in a wealthy area. Could be some celebrity owns it and has the guards there to keep out the fans and paparazzi.

I'm curious about the property just to the southwest, they've made what look like concrete crop circles in their yard. Very weird.

If anyone does drive by, go take some photos and post them. I'd be interested to see the front view, but I'm not interested enough to drive out there.

Here's some old information on the castle off Rt. 15. It's hilarious.

Aldie, Virginia - Bull Run Castle
The Aldie Castle is now up for sale. Inquiries to the real estate agent as to the asking price have gone unanswered, but the Multilisting Service has it in the "$1 million +" category. [Lady Cheron, 07/26/1999]
Aldie, Virginia - Bull Run Castle
West of Manassas, Virginia , on Rt. 15, just east of intersection with I-66, Mr. Miller is building a castle since 1986, from material scrounged from dumps. His kids don't help anymore, wife left him.

He's done his homework on castles. He is building it so he can defend himself from attack. He doesn't know from who yet, but he's ready. He only has old guns (all the same caliber -- important in defense) but his friends have automatic weapons. At first it appears like he's a lovable militia person, but once you take the tour you realize he's an "impossible dreamer". For $2 dollars you get a tour -- he'll give you back $10 if you don't like it. Or maybe put you in the dungeon. Everything is in the process of being built seemingly at once. He's doing it himself.

The castle is also a Bed-N-Breakfast. Two rooms are finished (kind of). There's the Victorian room and the Tower of Amore (painted in "love colors"). You can stay in Bull Run Castle for 60 dollars a night. And that's with anything you want for breakfast. He has hosted a medieval wedding and a group of 25 vampires has repeatedly stayed in the castle. This is probably the best off-center attraction in D.C. area. [Joe Balicki, 03/27/1998]

Is this for real? I just saw this place on Saturday, driving out to Leesburg. I would say its def made from scraps, its hella ugly and he used exposed cinderblocks which looks really tacky!! Definitely a residence tho.

Considering how much it actually snows in this area, it's much cheaper to pay some guy from Pimmit Hills with a pickup truck a hundred bucks to clear your driveway each time it snows, than to buy a 20k to 30k pickup truck and pay $400 every winter to have the plow blade installed.

Hahaha what a dumb ass. Why would you pay $400 every winter to have the plow blade installed? No with a lot that big and you arent a lazy fat ass you would most likely own a truck for work around the yard. You can hook your plow up in a few seconds if you arent a dumbass.

My driveway is gravel, hilly, and about 1000ft long. I've never had it plowed. I just drive straight through light snow and if it's heavier I park at the end of the driveway and walk until the snow melts enough.
