Crossing the Wilson Bridge

I am happy that this announcement clarified what I can not do when the bridge is open.
That The Woodrow Wilson Bridge will be conducting monthly maintenance openings on Thursday December 6th & 7th. The first opening is at 10:00 pm on Thursday night December 6th. The openings are scheduled to run through Friday morning December 7th until 2:00 am. The bridge will be in the upright position at multiple points during the night for maintenance, traffic will not be able to cross the bridge when the bridge is in the upright position.

You would think that wouldnt be needed but you are wrong. Sure the bridge is open but no one says I cannot try to jump it. If I am hurt I will sue. Plus the signs were not in spanish so I win.

I don't think I've ever seen that bridge raised for anything other than maintenance work, even in it's previous incarnation.

Well, then you need glasses. The new bridge is indeed seldom raised but, the previous bridge...it was open at least once every 3-4 days.

"The drawbridge on the original span opened approximately 260 times a year, causing frequent disruption to traffic on the bridge, which carried approximately 250,000 cars each day.[2] The new, higher span requires fewer openings."

I don't like the new bridge. It just doesn't look right,you know, in the old looking area of Alexandria it looks to new. they should at least have built it to look like the old one...
