Come on folks, the playoffs THIS year have barely started... but if we are asking, I don't see much happening to stop Centreville from having a great chance next time around...

Centreville is the obvious favorite to win again. Westfield will be at the top as usual. They have a good core of players with Gray,Gibson and Moore. Also a strong Class of 2016 with Clancy, Martin,Wooden and Pickett. LB has a stud in the sophomore QB, look for them to surprise a lot of people.

Robinson job is open, there will be a normal process even though it was said Vosseler was being groomed for the job. Meier is no where to be found I heard. With all the coaches needed, it will thin the heard. I just hope they give some young guys a chance instead of the good Ole boy network.

Annandale has a pretty good football program until the kids get into high school. The younger kids, up till about 7th or 8th grade usually have good teams that play competitively with CYA, SYA etc. Then, they suddenly suck. Strange.

I know I'm dating myself, but I remember several decades of Annandale as a proud and dominant program that was winning district and region titles year in and year out. But that was a LONG TIME AGO. A whole generation has now lived under this continuous mess. I blame the coaching and standards of conduct at the high school for this, not the community.

Annandale was a football power up until around 15 years ago. In the 1990s Annandale won back to bad state football championships. But the demographics are also very radically different today.

Yes I remember 93-94 well especially that guy Glenn?, but that was 20 years ago. I also remember the teams in 1978, '75, '72, '67, '65... they have six state titles I think... I don't know if you remember, but between 65 and 68 they won 38 games in a row, a feat that should be in the record books for something.

I think your point about demographics makes a turnaround more difficult, but a good system under good coaching would solve most problems.

Annandale was district champs in 2005, 2006 and 2008. They haven't been a state title contender for a while, but it's only in the last five years that they've really fallen apart.

Westfield is taking it all this year. They return numerous starters from the 2015 class such as Gray, Gibson, Moore, Song, Martinez (all started their sophomore year) and Scoville. However Scoville will be in competition for starting spot with 2016 QB Billy Pickett. Rumor has it many players are playing both ways this year to mimic Centreville's success.

Nice try, Westfield will play first loser to Centreville again this year. It's all lined up for them to win back to back State Championships. They will start the year by beating Gonzaga and then raping the rest of the Northen Conference and beat Smith again in an epic rematch in the State Championship.

The only question mark is the QB who is serviceable, but not close to last years starter. Who knows with the success and outlook for this year don't be surprised if some mercenary types (read Caleb Henderson) show up to improve certain positions. Either way it's Centreville all the way!

Looks like you got yourself a pretty darn good education over at Westfield. Learn what a fucking contraction is and you might have a chance at something harder. Such as winning a football game. This is why Centreville owns Westfield.

Centreville has an excellent shot at going undefeated again. The main question in my mind is QB play. Walter was as a good a game manager as I have seen in high school and he is the one that made that offense work. If they have a serviceable QB they will be hard to beat. Heck, they will be hard to beat without a functioning QB. Check out the story below:

The word on the street is that Centreville is getting a few transfers in and some are studs from teams they played last year. They are supposed to be getting a stud QB from a private school who is transferring in. If that is true than watch out they will be a heavy favorite to win the North again and play Smith again for State Championship.

Played for Coach Adams at Annandale, best coach/mentor I've ever met. When I was there they had a hard time getting raw talent to play on the team b/c of his no-nonsense old school approach. There were some talented folks that had heard about his reputation and didn't want to deal with it.

The back to back state championship in the early 90s was a pretty ethnically diverse team. The talent is there at Annandale but they are stuck in their old school ways, coaching football has been more of a relational in terms of coach to player interactions and Annandale is still stuck in their old drill sargent ways.

With that said, I will always be a Atoms fan.

Watch out for them boys over at Patriot HS in Prince William county. An explosive offense with a solid defense will make them a contender this upcoming season

Funny you mention all that, formeratom. I coach at another school in the county and I have always admired what they have over at Annandale. Yes, it may be old fashioned, but, aren't all traditions? From the college fight songs played during pre-game, the checkerboard endzone, the fact that all the football players are pushed into wrestling, they always have the most kids out for track, etc. They are able to pull off events that I know for a fact would never be able to be done at our school (wrestling tournaments for example). Yeah, the talent level may not be there across the board, but they always have good participation which is all you can really ask for.

I also heard Lake Braddock has 3 tranfers coming in a RB/WR fom california and 2 stud lineman, 1 from Pennsylvania and 1 from Prince William County. Word is that both lineman are top propects for 2015 2016. The cali kid is due to enroll next week.

Should start to get really interesting
