Changes at WJFK?

Supposedly Peter Rosenberg is getting ready to be shown the door at WJFK. The guy has never been particularly good. He's almost as bad as the Junkies in terms of talking about his uninteresting personal life. JFK must be making room for O&A. This is from DCRTV...

Sources: Rosenberg Not Long For 106.7 - 5/18 - Several reliable sources at WJFK-FM tell DCRTV that Peter Rosenberg's days are numbered as the late morning show host on the CBS-owned talker. He could be out "very soon." Apparently, Rosenberg on Wednesday ruffled some feathers when he, on the air, criticized a fellow station personality's decision not to attend the farewell party for WJFK-FM Operations Manager Cameron Gray, who is jumping to Redskins owner Daniel Snyder's Red Zebra Broadcasting. No word on who might replace Rosenberg.....

...All JFK has to do now is get rid of Penn Gilette, move O'Reilly up against Don & Mike and stick The Junkies back at Middays, where they can't do any damage.

Rosenberg is terrible and is no where near the level of even the Junkies. His show is worse than some college radio shows. The way I've heard it is that he only has his show because he is friends with management at JFK (Cameron Gray?) and that he pays for his air time, rather than JFK paying him. Rosenberg then has to get advertisers to pay for his time. Nice move by Lisa Broyhill to take over as producer recently too! Ha Ha. If the rumors of Rosenberg's departure are true, it really says something about the sinking ship that is WJFK, huh?

I find it hard to believe that JFK would allow Rosenburg to be on Middays if he is paying for his own time. Maybe overnights or weekends, but not Middays. While a Midday shift is not drive time, it does command a decent advertising rate for most stations and stands a chance of actually being listened to by people at work.

As for Broyhill, I think the writing was on the wall for Rosenburg and her move was a last ditch attempt to fix his show. His falling out with Don Geronimo, which may have actually been a real falling out, may have been the last straw. With JFK's ratings falling by half since Howard left, and D&M making noises like they are going to walk, JFK may be trying to keep Geronimo happy.

As for Cameron Gray, I don't know if he should be blamed for the line-up debacle at JFK or applauded for getting out before heads really start to roll. What an utter mess.

I agree, they should put Michael Graham back on at WMAL. The problem is he would probably keep showing up at the wrong radio station (like his protests when he showed up at the wrong address) or he would show up wearing a tee shirt depicting something offensive to the management of WMAL.

He would then remame the building "The Ronald Reagan Building" without asking the owner.

Also, the man is obsessed with teenagers. He talked about teenage children and sex all the time... especially the ones in Montgomery County. Something is wrong with him.

They will put that chick from NC who was on the TV show Coach in his place. She quit her radio job and her Jeff Pilot bball announcing gig and is on the bus up here now.

Like most radio commentators (conservative and liberal), Jay Severin is an ass. All these people have all the answers, yet none of them have actually done anything in their lives. Sean Hannity was a failed DJ before he hit gold on Fox. Alan Colmes was a failed stand-up comedian. Rush Limbaugh couldn't even hold a job as a promotions guy for a baseball team. Michelle Malkin established her "career" by writing for fringe papers because regular papers wouldn't run her crap. Anne Coulter was supposedly a law clerk somewhere, but she must have done it for two weeks. These folks are all bogus blowhards.

"Coulter practiced corporate law for four years before becoming a congressional aide, in 1994."

So, Coulter practiced "corporate law" for four years. If I'm not mistaken, with that amount of time under her belt, she probably just got above being a glamorized paralegal before leaving the legal profession. As for being a congressional aide, was she openning letters? Or managing interns?

Some "expert."

Yeah, the ratings are stellar in DC. And how many stations is he on? Four? Please, Severin sucks. He and Rosenberg ought to get together to do a show.

From the Post. Sounds like Peter Rosenburg is toast...

"Time, and slipping ratings, apparently heal all wounds. Four years after dropping shock jocks Opie & Anthon y for broadcasting a couple supposedly having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral, WJFK (106.7 FM) will restore them to local airwaves this summer, our colleague Paul Farhi reports. The NYC-based duo, who retreated to XM satellite radio after the scandal, has already returned this spring to CBS stations in New York, Philly and other cities after David Lee Roth -- Howard Stern's replacement in those markets -- tanked. WJFK will keep the all-local Junkies as Stern's drive-time replacement but is turning to O&A to bolster flagging mid-morning ratings."

...Of course, the management at JFK are being pussies for not replacing the sorry Junkies during the morning drive. WTF is up with those guys?

It would be nice if the terms "donkies" or "silly" actually had consistent meaning. But they don't. Is a "donky" an idiot? Or someone who is brilliant? Or a fan? Or a jerk? Is silly "cool," or "hot" or "stupid?"

Speaking of "stupid," it is painful listening to those guys. No matter what you thought of Howard Stern, the guy at least had some intelligence. It's hard to believe any of the Junkies actually graduated college, much less law school as one of them apparently did, given the fact they don't seem to know much of anything if it isn't related to sports.

That's pretty much been the formula for JFK's "success" since Howard left.

Peter Rosenberg? Penn Gilette? Jay Severin? The Junkies? All amateur crap.

Yes. At middays, until JFK fires the person who decided to do that instead of putting them on morning drive and moving The Junkies to middays, where they belong.

RadioandRecords.com has a general listing of radio station ratings by market (not by program, unfortunately). Sometimes you can get updates from DCRTV.com.

I don’t have a problem with the Junkies. I would rather listen to them then howerd stern Peter Roesenburg i could do without. D&M kick ass. Jay Severin who cares.. Pen Jellet is doing the show for free I think. And if Opie And Anthony come back to wjfk it will be the best day ever.

Radiophile, your doing a better job

Sorry to see Pamela Brown leaving but career wise good move. I do wonder if she is skilled enough for network news? Can someone please bring back Courtney Robinson from the southern Siberia of Florida. I know, that ship has sailed.

Jonathan Ogden get offer from WJFK to replace star in his own mind Lavar?
That might make Chad very happy. But lessens the chances even more of a Big O and Dukes reunion for the fans out there I think.

All from Dave Hughes himself. He's gotta make sure all his bases are covered so he can claim he was right down the road.

Talk about 'ships sailing'; the chances of BOaD getting back on terrestrial radio are next to nil.

Lavar should be replaced with Mark Grey who does overtime on JFK. He does a good show and knows what he's talking about when it comes to hockey, NBA, NCAA footbal and basketball, baseball etc. Lavar's IQ is probably 90.
