PSA: Parents and this generation getting off public school buses
Posted by: Bertorobic ()

So does anyone else think that it's funny when kids get off the bus their mommies or daddies carry their bookbags or books. Meaning, how are these kids ever going to learn how to finish a task on their own? I hope I don't come off too harsh as I am an uncle and have many nephews/neices in elementary/high school. However, this begs a question of teaching independence in some weird way I feel. I have heard of this generation of parents being too much of a shadow and also how they go to interviews for their own kids. So when I am behind a bus and see how these kids are being hand and spoon fed every ounce of their existence it starts to give me more doubt about my lil nieces generation. Parents let you kids be strong and independent and let them finish things on their own.

Their parents are also the o new tht complain about every little thing at school. It is always someone at the schools fault nd never their child. All rather children are perfect.

We have ruined two future generations w/our molly coddling. We have raised them to be incompetent by not letting them do anything. They have no life skills because we think it is mean to make them do chores and use a knife to make a sandwich in the kitchen. They have no confidence and no ambition because they are so cared for in fancy houses.

My kids never had to ride the bus. They told me that the bus is known as "The Loser Cruiser" and that only uncool kids rode on it.
My wife or I transported them every single day. Now that they are in college I bought them each a used but still reliable Asian car.

Your kids are lucky that they didn't have to stand out in the cold every morning simply to ride a dark bus filled with people they didn't want to be around. If only every parent was willing to cart their kids to school every day.

@Good father- I think yr kids just pulled a fast on on ya and wanted the extra sleep LoLz

@you other posters...........................Y''all are CLASSIC with yr "these kids these days with their loving parents wanting to give assistance!! Back in MY day, when we got off the bus we had to CARRY our bags, our parents, AND our feet!! UPHILL! BOTH WAYS!!!" bullshit that you are spouting.

Im a parent and Ive never seen what yr talking about UNLESS the kid was injured or was carrying other crap. In case y'all have forgotten what children are like, THEY ACT F**KING GROWN! They want to do EVERYTHING themselves, yo. Dont need no help from no mommy and daddy, ESPECIALLY in front of friends.

I dont know what y'all THINK you are seeing..............but it's really not the normal reality. Most kids will be carrying a backpack with what looks like contains a Hyundai. And they will be PROUD to do it by themselves.

not that i necessarily disagree with your opinion, but if you don't have children of your own -- if you haven't personally faced those challenges, which are harder than any challenges you will ever face in a career, where the consequences are far more important and long-lasting, where the whole world feels free to opine and criticize you every step of the way, then...

well, you should just shut the fuck up.

parenting is hard. it's actually impossible to do gracefully. until you've done it, you have no clue what you're talking about.

i know a lot of posters on here are dumb ass kids themselves, who may learn better someday, but if you're an uncle, presumably you're an adult, and you should really know better.

I have a (Robinson) bus stop in front of my house. About 30 kids stand in or around my driveway waiting for the bus.

In this crowd are about 6 or 8 smokin' hot young ladies. I'm talkin fucking gorgeous.

If these chicks ain't cool, I don't know what cool is.

I run a couple times a week and pass many people in their front yards and also many walkers on the street. Everyone usually initiates a greeting either verbally or with a hand gesture and I respond or visa versa. When I pass the parents waiting for their children to arrive on the school bus and wave they give me a mean scowl. I just laugh to myself. Actually these days the world is much more dangerous than when I rode a school bus. The parents in my nieghborhood are like mother grizzlys protecting their young. With all the kidnappings and crimes in society today you really can't blame them.

you're the loser - kids ride the bus because it burns less gas and reduces the gridlock on our overwhelmed neighborhood roads. why do you let your kids judge others as uncool?

Haha! There is a part of a popular children's book that tells kids how to get their parent to carry their backpack. Every kid in my neighborhood tried it and it worked. I stumbled across the instructional passage in the book and started alerting the other parents they were being scammed by their kids.

The scam goes like this

The kid will dump the backpack on the ground in front of the parent and say to the parent, "you carry it, I had to carry it all the way from school, and it weighs like 50 pounds!"
