That's crazy, but I wonder if anyone knows whether 40 "critical" violations over a year's time is really bad, compared to how many violations other local restaurants get.

Here's the Visible Health Inspection's for FFX County Silver Diners. Keep in mind things like "door was propped open" and "employees weren't distributed a clear health policy" are things that are listed as critical. Finding rat poison in the food is rated just the same. You have to read the reports to see if there are really big issues or not.

All, repeat ALL, restaurants have roaches, rodents, disgusting behavior on the part of the kitchen staff, or some combination of the three. The worst are the ones that you would least expect. Actually, McDonald's are about the cleanest when it comes to vermin.
I stopped eating in any kind of restaurant since I started in this business 10 years ago. The shit I've seen you wouldn't fucking believe.

With roaches its the same thing. Restaurants are where the food is. I can only guess that to eliminate all roaches in restaurants you would have to use enough pesticide to kill the customers as well.
