Police: Bullet from Fired Gun Traveled Through Neighboring Centreville Home
No one was injured in the incident.
http://centreville.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/police-bullet-from-fired-gun-traveled-through-neighboring-centreville-home

A bullet discharged from a weapon inside a Centreville home on Saturday managed to travel through its walls and into those of a neighboring house.

Fairfax County Police received a call to respond to a home on the 14100 block of Sorrell Chase Court at 11:28 a.m., Fairfax County Master Police Officer Eddy Azcarate said.

No one was injured, but police did say a round was discharged and ended up traveling from that home to a nearby home, Azcarate said.

Police said 54-year-old Jay Hurst of Sorrell Chase Court is charged with discharging a firearm or missile within or at a building or dwelling house.

He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention in Fairfax. Bond and release information isn't immediately available.

What? You mean it will be illegal for me to fire any of the missiles I have in my back yard? Fairfax County is so overregulated.

I wonder if it was really an accident or if he was piss drunk shooting at an inanimate object in his house. Not that it would matter, he still done fucked up.

What does this have to do with Fairfax County beyond where it happened? The law the deep shit was charged under was a state code meaning its a state law, not a county one. The guy owns a gun. He has the responsibility handle it properly. Heard from my neighbor this was worse then what's in the news release. Neighbor said the bullet almost hit somebody in the other house.

You have no way of knowing if he belongs to the NRA or not.

This is why you should use a shotgun for home defense!

Chill out and don't take yourself so seriously. It was humor. The give away is that people don't have missiles in their backyard. People also complain about how over regulated Fairfax County is, so the two were put together. Get out of the basement and interact with people once in a while.

I can't....I'm too busy building missiles in my basement. If you think Fairfax is over regulated then I suggest you move to Maryland, New York, or even better yet try California.

What the he** kind of houses are being built that a round can penetrate out of the first one and into the next one?! Any details on the round and firearm used? Price of the house? Odds on that nobody in that neighborhood got their money's worth.

Wait, you mean some vinyl siding over a pre-assembled 2x4 frame won't stop a bullet? Lord Tyvek, why have you forsaken my McMansion?

A hand gun round such as .45, .40 or even a 9mm will go through a home wall "better" then 5.56. Better may not be the best word usage here but oh well.7.62 is a whole other story.

Are you kidding me? A .45 is a big, fat, slow moving round, somewhere around 850fps leaving the barrel. A 5.56 round is slim, aerodynamic, and fast moving, somewhere around 3000fps when leaving the barrel.

Do you also believe in the "gun show loophole"?

Go find and read some ballistic studies on such topics.

What? I heard that the round went all the way through two houses and
no one even knew what happened. What are the odds of that with a brick house?
Charge was dismissed since the gun was screwed up.

Bullets can do that.
