Wondered if anyone has had a positive experience with AA meetings (one better than others) here in Fairfax. Thanks

I've been meaning to try Thursday nite at St. George's 164 group. Have heard very good things.

One in falls Church, at the Independence Club, was awesome. Not sure if it there any longer, but when I was going to 3 meetings a day, it was great.

Before I moved further south in the county, Good Shepherd on Braddock had a calm, sane Friday night meeting. If you are in your 20s-30s, the best meeting in the area is in Georgetown at West Side Club.

I try and steer clear of meetings with lots of blacks there for the sole purpose of getting their slips signed for their probation officer/court.

Best part about it is that there are a few bars within walking distance!

The one in Falls Church is the Unity Club. Odd mix of bikers and decent looking women.

Every meeting place has it's own personality. The best you can do is sample a few and see where you feel comfortable.

+1 on Good Shepherd on Friday nights, very low key compared to some of the others (Unity on Fridays felt like detox, a true freak show)

+1000 on West Side Club. Saturday Men's Meeting is superb.

Fairfax AA is terrible. Sober 2+ years now and avoid fairfax and prince william meetings like the plague. Cliques, gossip and exclusion. No message, just mess. Try further west if you can. Winchester etc
