Chinese All You Can Eat

So I'll looking for a Chinese buffet...the only one I've been to was the one by the MVC late night video across from sully plaza, and that place sucked balls.

If anyone knows of any places in herndon/chantilly/c-ville let me know.

Which buffet was it? The Bright Pearl is pretty much crap, but the small place right next door is all you can eat for $20 a head and the food + selection is much better.

There's another Chinese AYCE place in Sully Plaza in between K-mart and Babies-R-Us (can't think of the name). You might wanna try that out. And by the way, Bright Pearl isn't THAT bad... and $20 is a damn rip off so fuck that place too.

Have you ever eaten there? No? Then wtf are you talking about?

It's all you can eat sushi (yum) a number of good entrees and the wait staff cook your meat for you on the burners in the table.

It's definitely worth the cash.

I'm Chinese and hate going to any type of all you can eat Chinese places because they suck balls. But if you have to go to one, there aren't any decent ones in those areas. Gotta go to Fairfax, go to Peter Pan in Fairfax. Or if you just want asian all you can eat, go to Todai in Fair Oaks mall.

asnpcwiz said it right. Peter Pan near Fairfax Circle is the best in this area. Also, for you broke asses out there like me, you can cram a to-go box for 10$.

Unfortunately, I've just been scrounging off the Wegman's 'asian' buffet lately. It's ok though.

That place is Golden China, i go there very often plus it has got a Mongolian BBQ too. Much better than the buffet place at the intersection of 50 and walney.

There's a place called "Golden China". Forgive me, because I don't remember exactly where it is in C-Ville, but they have a sweet ass mongolian bbq and its only like $7-8.

What cracks me up is that people expect to find a "good" all you can eat Chinese restaurant. I mean, if you can't even find a "good" all you can eat American restaurant in the US, what makes you think you'll find other ethnic foods? I mean, when people think of all you can eat American food their expectations are something like Old Country Buffet. But they want quality chinese food on a buffet? Give me a break...no wonder why we feed you guys dogs and cats!

Is the food they serve "authentic" or Americanized Chinese (Sweet and Sour Pork, Egg Foo Young, and the like?)

Still there and pretty decent?

Harvest Moon in Falls Church must either be alright, or slightly above that, considering it has been in business there for 35-40 years! Either that, or it was one of the first money laundering establishments in the Metro DC area!

On a personal level, I lived within 10 minutes walking distance of Harvest Moon, and never managed to step inside. I think I am going to have to add this to my bucket list...

Harvest Moon kinda sucks. Someone mentioned China Chef over on 50 by the KMart. That place was definitely my favorite but last time I drove over there, it looked like it had been replaced by something else.

Todai in Fair Oaks is good but expensive.

Peter Pan used to be our fave AYCE buffet (spouse is asian). But "lately" it hasn't appealed to us - we stopped going. Perhaps we're just getting out of the "stuff our mugs" mode rather than PP actually going downhill, though, since we haven't tried to find a replacement.

Since we're into authentic food (for whatever ethnic food we're craving), we are hitting more often on Mark's Duck House (mentioned in another thread about good Chinese food) and find that it turns into an AYCE outing anyway - somewhat more expensive than a buffet however. Dim Sum days are especially filling...and authentic.

I lived pretty close to Peter Pan for almost 8 years and drive by there weekly for over 10 and hadn't been there until yesterday...

That place is sure not trying to gain any business from the locals except for catering to the local asians who will shortly take over Fairfax City too.. I did get to try a few things I hadn't before...chicken feet, mini octopus, deep fried anchovies? I think?. what a disgusting array of food. Even the americanized food sucked pretty bad. Did see a little pizza sitting there that noone touched! Place was packed though with asians and the latinos seemed to like it too. They can have it.
If that's what authentic chinese is all about I'm out.

I used to work with a chick from Beijing. She told me Peter Pan was the most authentic restaurant compared to the food she grew up with in China. She specifically mentioned the chicken feet thing, and also pig ears (?).

My suggestion is that you do 3 minutes of burpees every day and not do the all-you-can-eat thing anywhere. The last thing any of you need is more food.

Peter Pan is limited choices and seems kinda dirty. Tried it out about 3 weeks ago.

A good one is Win Buffet in the strip mall in Lincolnia (236 & Beauregard) near the Alexandria border.

Todai is the best, but it has no American salad bar. Sushi, fresh seafood (king crab legs, oysters, etc.), mongolian bbq, assortment of hot dishes (I love the pork belly), soups, and many other yummies. For dessert they will make you crepes to order. Lobster is served on the 1/2 hour.

Hibachi Grill and Buffet in Sully PLaza in Chantilly, across from Lotte.

Very good selection and everyone can find something they like.

Overall, not bad - but better than any other option IMO.

Stay away from any and all Chinese buffets. Most of the kitchens are dirty, and I usually end up with the Hershey Squirts after trying to eat that garbage.

I would go to the China King over on Spring Street. Their Lo Mein is about 6 dollars and enough to feed 2-3 people. There are three decent Chinese carryouts on that block.
