My employer is now allowing us to retrieve corporate email on our personal devices. It's saving them a ton of money on company issued cell phones. When I'm on my phone I might be texting my friends or responding to a coworker's email. As long as I do my job, nobody cares.

I impose performance improvement plans on anyone that does not reach tangible, measureable goals without sufficient justification. Of the employees I have had to terminate, most have undoubtedly failed to balance their personal/professional needs. One was notorious for ducking into a conference room with his cellphone for a good hour. Another was notorious for spending hours on message boards like this one. No surprise that both were black.

system and you will not be able to call them at all."
Problem solved for a while.
Then came personal cell phones. We didn't have a policy on
personal cell phone usage at that time so I sat down with
the powers that be and we came up with one. Essentially it
said if your productivity suffers as a result we will put
you through Progressive Discipline. Good luck dealing with
that one. The rules regarding productivity in Federal government
are totally fucked up and need to be replaced with something
more effective but good luck with that one too. The first time
Obama ran for President he promised he'd institute Performance
Management (Pay for performance) in the Federal government.
After being elected he dropped the idea due to pressure from
Federal employees unions. In other words, if they institute PM
the first to go will be black employees. For some reason they

Cell phones, or any wireless devices, are banned in any secure area including those which are contractor run. If you're going to Langley, you know how far away it is from the facility that they must be turned off just as with many other such places. There are scanners in place throughout.

I work at McDonald's too and all of my co-workers, including store manager and all shift managers work with their only one hand since the other one is occupied on their smartphones. Sometimes the staff at the front counter turn their backs to clients and chat on the phone. They just ignore the long line in front of the counter and show each other photos, videos and funny things on the phone.

My employer allows it only on breaks and lunch, if we are caught with it other than those times then we get written up. Working for the Navy, they had jammers in the building that would block any cell service inside. Employers need this technology.

People want to put their personal devices on my work network. It's very irritating having to explain that company policy does not allow for random devices to be connected to our network (Yes, I know you don't work for the Chinese but then again, maybe you do).

By the book, you're not supposed to have it on you where I work. That said, it became obvious very quickly that not one amongst 150ish employees was adhering to that, including those in management positions. Suffice it to say we are essentially on an honor policy at this point. Tolerated but not encouraged, as long at it doesn't impact your work, no one cares.
