The Kookster is getting crushed on the Virginia airwaves, and it’s probably only going to get worse – a major factor thwarting the Republican’s hopes of a comeback in a governor’s race that’s been slipping away.

At the moment ... this is clearly Terry McAuliffe’s race and, absent some kind of major story that turns things around for Cuccinelli soon, it’s going to be difficult for him to keep the Governor’s mansion in Republican hands in November.

Why don't you take your puerile strawman arguments and cram them into that orifice of your's from which they emanate.

Why don't you help Terry steal more IDs from the terminally ill and old so that he can defraud folks and line his pockets?

Nice company you keep:

"Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe (D) was one of dozens of investors with a Rhode Island estate planner charged with defrauding insurers by using the stolen identities of terminally ill people, according to court documents filed Wednesday by federal prosecutors in Providence.

"Federal court documents do not accuse McAuliffe of wrongdoing, and it wasn’t clear whether he had made money or lost money on the investments. His campaign spokesman said McAuliffe was a “passive investor” who was deceived like many others. Spokesman Josh Schwerin also said that the campaign and McAuliffe donated sums to the American Cancer Society totaling $74,000 — approximately the amount McAuliffe earned as a return on the investment and received in a campaign donation from Caramadre."

Terry was one of hundreds of passive investors several years ago and had no idea about the allegations against the defendant — who, at the time, was widely respected by business leaders and elected officials,” Schwerin said. “The allegations are horrible and he never would have invested if he knew he was being deceived.

So you're OK with the guy who's supposed to be running the state not knowing what he personal (not through a trust or other party) was investing in and falling for a blatant con game?

While he may not have know that the principals were doing specific illegal things, he knew exactly what the investment was. Even if you take away the criminal scamming aspects, it still was a scumbag level investment which was designed to take advantage of vulnerable people.

Where in the article does it say that T-Mac didn't know what he was personally investing in? It says; “Terry was one of hundreds of passive investors several years ago and had no idea about the allegations against the defendant — who, at the time, was widely respected by business leaders and elected officials.” Do you know what the term "passive investor" means? What T-Mac was sold by Caramadre and what Caramadre was actually doing were likely two different things. That's the nature of fraud.

Do you think that Caramadre invented financial fraud? Ever heard of Ponzi? Madoff? If you have evidence that T-Mac was aware of how Caramadre ran his "investment" operation and how he generated returns, I’d like to see it. Otherwise, STFU.

Wrong. He knew what the basic nature of the investments was - taking advantage of dying people.

The only part that he didn't know, granting the benefit of doubt, was that it would be done in a outright fraudulent manner. As if it's OK to rip off dying people otherwise. lol

McAuliffe seems to have no problems with taking money from vulnerable people per se since he reversed his position on pay day lenders after they bought him off and he previously was involved in helping to arrange rip-off rate union-branded credit cards from HFC.

You can like Cuccinelli or not. I don't particularly. Doesn't change the fact that McAuliffe is a complete sleezeball.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) launched a new advertisement Friday against Terry McAuliffe, calling his Democratic opponent in next month’s gubernatorial election “corrupt” and “despicable” for his 2006 investment in a Rhode Island-based life insurance annuity pool. But while the ad slams McAuliffe for his investment in “an insurance scam that preyed on dying people,” a ThinkProgress review of court documents reveals that another investor was an Ocean State company whose vice chairman is a Cuccinelli donor.

Last week, court documents were released in the case of Joseph A. Caramadre, a Cranston, RI, estate planner who plead guilty to defrauding insurers by using the identities of terminally ill patients. Caramadre’s investors included Monsignor Raymond B. Bastia of the Rhode Island Catholic Diocese, former Cranston Police Chief Walter J. Craddock, and the law firm of a former Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice. According to the Washington Post, there had been “no indication that McAuliffe (D) or other investors were aware that Caramadre was stealing identities.” McAuliffe has denied any knowledge of the scheme.

Thinkprogress (Soros funded) is corrupt and not a legitimate news source.

The basic nature of the investment was known. It was promoted rather than hidden. And, while sleazy, was legal.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/25/joseph-carmadre-robin-hood_n_1829990.html

The only part that was illegal was fraudulently using dead people and forging names.

Unless you're suggesting that Terry did absolutely no due diligence on what he was throwing money into, it would have been difficult not to know.

Still, it is a fact (per court documents) that Caramadre’s investors included:

- Monsignor Raymond B. Bastia of the Rhode Island Catholic Diocese;

- An Ocean State company whose vice chairman is a Cuccinelli donor;

- Former Cranston Police Chief Walter J. Craddock; and,

- The law firm of a former Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice.

If you're going to insist that T-Mac knew what Caramadre was doing, you'd have to agree that these investors did as well.

McAuliffe failed to disclose investment in death benefit scheme.

Hold on.

You call this investment 'sleazy'. Why?

Did this 'investment scheme' cause these people to die? No. Did it take money from them? No. So what's the issue?

Insurance companies marketed these investments (annuitites) for elderly people without seeking their medical histories. This allowed allowing investors, like Caramadre, to take advantage of the money-back guarantee.

Caramadre's fraud, with which T-Mac had no involvement nor knowledge, aside, there was nothing inappropriate about the investments.

Your morals seem at about the same level as Caramadre's and Terry's as their backgrounds in long strings of other schemes further evidence.

Taking advantage of some dying people by giving them a relatively trivial amount of money in order to use their names to profit far beyond that is sleazy. It may be legal just like payday lenders, title loans, abusive debit cards, and other similar rip-offs are legal, but it's still sleazy.

McAuliffe at least didn't try, as you have, to justify the investment itself after being caught and gave all of the profit that he made to charity.

We got just a matter of weeks until that ass whoopin of Republicans begins. The day after the election is always the best. Isn't it? The fight is over and won. The next four years have been decided and done so for the best of the state or country. The evil elements of the country have been defeated once again into irrelevancy.

Well then by that same measure (actually worse since it was by Caramadre directly)...

"Caramadre and his wife Paula have donated $13,000 to Hillary Clinton since 2005, $9,200 to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid since 2007, $5,000 to the DNC since 2007, and $28,250 and $25,250 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (<DSCC) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) respectively since 2006."

It's a typical democrat ploy: deny until overwhelming evidence, then say 'the other guy did it too!'

All the things Obama said he would do differently from Bush, and everytime he gets caught doing the same thing, the dems cite precedence of the last administration.

I say this as a dem who is fed up with politicians!
