Best way to sell a handgun in VA?

What the best way to conduct a private sale of a handgun in Virginia... I'm not sure how to publicly seek a potential buyer. Obviously, Craigslist and eBay are not good options haha. Thanks

Put a note on the bulletin board at the NRA range. Only sell to someone with a CHP and only in-person. Do not sell to someone with an Obama sticker on their car, as they have obvious mental problems.

Also a couple stores in the area have consignment sale areas. You'd make less money of course because they'll take a cut, but you won't have to worry about meeting some random person off the internet in a public place to do an exchange. Also by doing it through a FFL dealer you wont be responsible for ensuring your buyer is legally able to own/possess the firearm, as well as more ironclad paper trail of transfer than making up a personal bill of sale.

it's easy, document a bill of sale where both parties sign and exchange info, sell only to a VA resident (or military member) & CHP holder so you know they're legit.

If you want no strings attached to the gun, sell it via consignment through a gunshop. I had a handgun that I didn't like, and took it to sharpshooters. Put a high price on it. Sold in a week. Since they do the registration paperwork for the new buyer- if the gun is ever used in a crime, the serial number points back to the new buyer, not me. Something to think about if you do a private sale. That's worth the commission loss to me.

Private sales are easy in VA. If you are unsure though, put it up for consignment at a pawn shop. They'll background check a potential buyer.

If selling privately GET and KEEP the buyers info.

If the firearm is used in a crime, the cops will come to you first if the paper trail stops at you.

Sell it in DC. You can make 2x as much than if you sell it in VA. Report it stolen after the sale.

Sell it as you want advertise where you want,to insure the person is legit go to any gun shop and they will do the Federal and State paperwork to transfer the gun. they will charge a fee and the new owner pays for that.Put that info in your ad so people who dont want to do that will not inquire. A visit to the dealer before hand will let you know what a good sales price will be. Before Instant Check in Fairfax they would have had to wait 72 hrs for a FXCO PD check but today with instant check as soon as that goes thur its theres.Get cash money for the sale.

Or as said consignment sale. with many dealers around

go to a republican area (anywhere but DC controlled fairfax)

then just do as the locals do

(which i'm guessing means no one gives a flying fuck about obama rules proposed or passed - or could hardly list them )

Virginia Arms in Manassas does consignment, they always sell through the used firearms quickly, and they appraise what you bring in much higher than anywhere else.
