Michael Savage to take Hannity Spot on WMAL?
Posted by: WMAL-Fan ()
Date: October 09, 2013 08:42AM

I guess Michael Savage is taking Sean Hannity's spot on WMAL......How disappointing......

I listen to WMAL everyday - and I always thought they had a good afternoon flow.....12 - 3 Rush Limbaugh (gives his analysis of events...) then 3 - 6 Hannity (he has a lot of guests - he's like a promoter)....and then 6-9 Mark Levin (educated legal analysis).....

I've listened to Savage from time to time(only when I happen to be driving after 9PM).....He's got flavor, but his analysis/insight is lacking.....and he brags about being smart to the point where I think he's reassuring himself of it.....

Some of his great analysis: Savage is calling for the investigation of whoever ordered the DC police to shoot the woman who crashed into the Whitehouse gate.....yeah......i'm sure it's a conspiracy(not)....

However, I don't think his show formart is ideal for this new time slot.....

Personally I hope his ratings tank......

I believe Levin described Savage's show as the "Little Weiner Nation"

Sean Hannity blows.

I agree with probably 75% of what I've ever heard him say, but his show is repetitive and structured and probably scripted. You are not going to hear any radical ideas, just party line shit.

With Michael Savage, for better or worse, you are at least getting a guy who will go off the reservation and get in trouble. He is a nut, but so was Howard Stern in his golden days. I don't have to agree with him to be entertained by him on occasion.

Talk radio is dead as shit, maybe I'll give Savage a listen again.

Yes, NPR is the premier radio station for d-bag elitists and pseudo-intellectuals.

WAMU has some interesting programs, but like commercial talk radio is a corporate mouthpiece, public radio is traditionally a government mouthpiece.

Neither will ever say something really bad or true about their "sponsors".

I appreciate the spirit of what he is doing as well. I didn't mind listening to him before 2012 when he was doing his "Stop Obama express...(whatever)" which clearly didn't work or have any impact on the election what so ever. Then after the election he was congratulating Bob Beckle and other Democrats for running the better campaign. Really Sean? 4 years with the stop Obama express, a mission that failed and you have to say is "aw shucks!" better luck next time? How about next time you do something more meaningful like Mark Levin and start filing law suits.

He also recycles to many analysts and guests. He will drone on and on and on about MSM reporting a non-news story while simultaneously reporting the same non-news story while gratuitously throwing in he used to work as short order cook or bus boy.

I think he's a pseudo conservative like rest of the people at the Weekly Standard.

Conservatives want to nothing to Savage yet he gets lumped in with them. The guy is snake oil salesman, another do nothing blow hard. I was disappointed when WMAL bumped the John Bachelor show for Savage. Bachelor always had hard news stories or information that the previous 4 shows didn't talk about.

Agreed that Hannity is extremely repetitious and boring most of the time. But not sure that Savage deserves prime-time. He is far more of an egomaniac than Rush ever was. But usually far more entertaining. But he's flat out wrong on the issues and facts more frequently.

What does get old is listening to all these talk show hosts spend so much time bashing each other...

Hannity is repetive....I think his role is just to give people a public venue to send their message.....like his "panels" on his tv shows - hannity doesn't do any of the substantive talking....

I can't stand Savage gloating over himself....He may have a PHD(in like nuitrition or something bizarre) but I don't think his show intellectually enriching in any way....or even witty to be honest.....

> What does get old is listening to all these talk

I don't think Rush will comment on any other show host - except when he was promoting Levin's new book Liberty and Tryanny....Never heard Rush bash anyone....

Levin made the "Little Weiner Nation" comment....and he'll take jabs at Chris Matthews.....despite the overall anger of Levin's show - i don't think he routinely bashes anyone....

Rush+Levin are my faves

Obviously that one time you listened - you learned everything that is discussed on that station and summarized it perfectly....

I think you should indulge in some entertainment more suited for your intelligence level: TMZ, Real Housewives, Jersey Shore etc

Savage was raving about it (even saying perhaps he'll influence the 2014 election....)

and I did a google search for "Savage Hannity"

I think Savage's website is the only real source.....

Hannity must not be doing too well - his TV show got bumped to 10PM on Fox

I sometimes listen to Hannity. He is too long winded. He takes 15 minutes to make one point, and repeats his point over and over and over.

Don't forget his "callers": They're actors reading from scripts as well.

As the OP said, Hannity is a cheerleader. You wingnuts LOVE to de cheered on in your idiocy.

Hannity is repetive because most conservatives are dimwits who need to be told several times who to hate & what to fear before they actually get it.

Megan Kelly got the 9 pm spot, between the two its a pretty no brainer who people would rather watch.

I dont know what his ratings are like but he needs to lighten up. His show got far too repetitive and you can tell he gets annoyed if someone tries to make a joke about something. Most of the stories are going to be covered on another show anyway and hes not going to get an Obama interview or a big time lefty to challenge like the other shows can get.

It is what it is he just doesnt really give you a reason to watch though so a lot of people turn the channel at that point.

Same here. In that order. You are right - Rush doesn't usually comment on other talk show hosts (at least by name). Just wish Rush was the man he used to be... imo he just hasn't been the same since he lost his hearing.

With all those Darwin Award risks out there waiting to snag you guys, it's always good to hear from the IQ-less-than-80 crowd. So don't mind me. Simply carry on with your WMAL mindlessness. Safer than cleaning your gun, after all.

Talk-radio us a medium created to deliver lies. About everything. All it offers is validation for the truly ignorant. And you may never have listened to public radio at all if you think it is a "government mouthpiece". That's just completely laughable.

Has NPR figured out what semi-automatic means yet?

Are they still firing people like Juan Williams a life long democrat for not towing the party line enough?

I never understood why people care to listen to hard left or hard right talk radio. You're basically being told what you want to reinforce your already partisan beliefs. It's like a liberal watching MSNBC all day or a conservative watching FOX all day, what are you really learning?

The news media is a joke these days - to even have a distant hope of knowing whats going in the world you have to collect information from many sources....including talk radio.....If you "listen/read-between-the-lines" - you can extract data from the information.....

or you can say fuck it and turn your back to the news.....its what a lot of people do now.....especially in my age range (26)

oh - but why I choose hard right?

In my opinion, Rush Limbaugh has the strongest instincts about politics....You can tell he really loves studying and analzying every little detail (Especially about the Clintons)....

Mark Levin is a true consitutional scholar.....I wanted to go to his book signing at Tyson's

I think they're smart guys, and I respect their opinions - and I learn from them.....

Sure I listen to NPR on occasion. I've been listening to Diane Rehm off and on since 1989 (same as Rush). And I read a lot of liberal blogs, ezines, etc. But for talk radio, right-wing is so vastly superior. To a person, left-wing talk show hosts are laughably pretentious, too serious with absolutely no sense of humor and stridently political. You'll find most right-wing hosts have no issues with taking shots at their own if they disagree on an issue.

Every time I listen to Rush, after just about every commercial break he comes back making a correction from whatever he said before the commercial. He doesn't seem to have his facts all the time and just spouts off. Also, every time someone is in the news for doing something horrendous rush states for a fact that they voted for Obama. It just gets a little old. He gets blinded by his hatred of Obama.

Savage Nation is kayfabe, but it's more intelligent than anything else on WMAL. He doesn't give a fuck about either party.

Rush, Levin and Hannity are party-line towing idiots targeting a mouth-breathing audience.

WMAL = White Men Angry at Liberals

Dubya-M-A-Yell is owned by Cumulus and all Cumulus stations are dumping Hannity in the near future. There were rumors that Rush would be dropped too, but that doesn't appear to be case. Apparently there's a push to put some local programming on MAL for the afternoon drive instead of Savage. We'll see...

NPR is basically the liberal version of Talk Radio. I used to listen to both. NPR is incredibly liberal and is basically a mouthpiece for the liberal agenda. WMAL is the mouthpiece for the conservative party. Both programs can be fun to listen to on any given day. However, I like to go to less biased sources like WTOP, The Diplomat, Christian Science Monitor, Federal News Radio, etc. And, please, quit bashing on IQ. The conservatives were right that the Affordable Care Act would be trouble and they were right that the country would comtinue amassing debt due to the liberal policies of government intervention. Also, we did predict immigration issues as well. Good luck calling us stupid.

The difference is however, that while WMAL makes no qualms about identifying its programming as conservative, NPR tries to convince you that it's middle of the road, non-partisan when nothing could be farther from the truth.

PEOPLE , PLEASE READ THIS. IT'S 2017 , AND THERE'S BEEN NO POSTS HERE FOR 4 YEARS. SAVAGE DID TAKE HANNITY'S PLACE AND DID VERY WELL. HOWEVER, APROX. JAN.2017, SAVAGE DISAPPEARED FROM WMAL D.C., AND LARRY O'CONNER TOOK HIS PLACE. I CALLED THE STATION APROX. FEB.9,2017 AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR ONE BILL HEFF ASKING FOR A CALL BACK ON THE QUESTION , " WHY DID WMAL DECIDE TO CHANGE FROM SAVAGE TO O'CONNER; WHAT IS THE REASONING BEHIND YOUR DESISION? I GAVE MY FULL NAME AND TELE# AND TOWN ,AND I DID THIS 4 TIMES ALTOGETHER. ON MARCH 9,2017, I TRIED FOR A 5TH TIME AND FOUND WMAL PHONES NOT FUNCTIONING
IT WASN'T EVEN POSSIBLE TO CALL AND GET TO TALK ON AIR . HOWEVER, THERE WERE, THAT VERY SAME DAY AND TIME, LISTENERS TALKING WITH THE HOST ON AIR LIVE.
THIS SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT SOMETHING VERY BAD HAS OCCURRED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE STATION. LET'S KEEP AN EAR OPEN. SUPER MAN. PRONOUNCED SUPER MUN .
