Exxon Merrifield VA Campus Future Development__Green Space + Technology Development Capacity and Infrastructure ?

Now transitions to knowledge jobs with longer cycles are needed as the economy has recovered somewhat in 2013 going forward.

But "purposeful" planning that preserves the "Woods" for posterity with a "Healing Garden" for those who are recovering from surgery at INOVA and other medical facilities in nearby communities such as Vienna, and Fairfax City, can benefit us all and is proposed by a Citizen’s Committee working with county ++.

If Exxon is moving, I think I know where: the old Northern VA Training Center on Braddock Road. Just drove past yesterday and they have a "Welcome Exxon" sign up.

The fact is, the federal government will not purchase this facility. Why? Because it is not on a metro line - directly. If shuttle buses are used, then the employees who use the metro will be driven back and forth for the 1.5 miles (approx.) from the Dunn Loring station.

This building has an assessed value of $200 million for tax purposes by Fairfax county. As to the asking price? Not sure. But, as most know, usually the tax assesments are somewhat below market value. I guess somehwere in the range for $225 million is about right.

It's too bad that when Exxon bought out Mobil, the car wash that Lou Noto had installed in the executive parking area on the plaza level was removed. Noto, the CEO at the time, had the car was installed for his vehicles. Several vehicles of his remained on site, and under car covers.

democrats can't even speak without lying. garden, green, my ass. housing, outpatient temporary housing, ...

garden? you mean free housing (ie, instead of staying with family). and these democrat assholes will just fake an ailment, get in, and never leave

fairfax county employs were already busted for getting $100,000+ / yr wages and staying in low income housing in the SAME AREA.

tech development, democrat style

the file critical needs of equip, ie, imported microscopes

then when the facility is build: there are no microscopes they are they "we ran out of funding"

some f'ing foreigner opens a tech business who gets hired as a consulting contractor pretty soon after that

complete facist crap. complete fraud conversion of tax to private ownership.

Terry McAuliffe would be a great leader for this initiative. Since he has Obama's direct line, he could quickly secure millions in government backing since the word "green" was used in the dream of what to do with this facility.

He would be successful at getting the money, but a failure at budgeting it as well as being able to hire people for a succesful operation. Of course, we know what kind of huge roaring success he is at managing company budgets and successfully creating jobs.

< sarcasm >

Bottom Line: First We Need a Citizens Committee Established via Fairfax County Supervisors Office, perhaps working with Fairfax County Economic Development Agency ++. The Citizens Committee working with Fairfax County Agency and Exxon Rep can then develop a plan that is affordable and meet the need of our Fairfax County Residents.

The plan can be affordable, and developed based on "knowledge" and 'wisdom" as must be needed rather than "self destructive politics".
