Does anyone know if the government is going to open? I need to pay off my lease for my M5 and I don't know what I will do if I can't make any money! I have no real world skills other than pretending to work, but that wont get me paid outside of government or some bullshit corporate position. Help!

Remember, 28 days the shutdown lasted back in 1995/1996 when Bill Clinton was president. Somehow, we all survived.

I haven't been watching the news to see how Obama is trying to twist this crisis towards his own benefit.

Good luck to those of you are caught in this position. About the only thing that will change for you is that you'll just stay home and use the internet as opposed to going into DC and surfing the web all day long.

Great, looks like nothing will change for me!

That's right. No change at all. All the no-account private-sector assholes will still be no-account private-sector assholes.

Same as usual. They'll try to shut down high profile things that people notice and make a big deal of it. In the meantime they'll figure out how to fund what really needs to be done. Just like the oh so scary [cue dramatic music] SEQUESTER! Da Da DAAAaaaa!

Not the first time. Won't be the last.

You're talking about Government 'workers' - who will get paid no matter what. Government contractors (who do the actual work) will immediately be laid off - just like last time.

Imagine ... the government is heading into a shutdown mode, but agencies within the federal government are working hard to spend the remaining money in their budgets. Nearly $150K in toner cartridges. Who the hell prints that much? A half-million in art work? It won't cover much up as most government agencies look like crap when you get into them.

From the Washington Post:

This past week, the Department of Veterans Affairs bought $562,000 worth of artwork.

In a single day, the Agriculture Department spent $144,000 on toner cartridges.

And, in a single purchase, the Coast Guard spent $178,000 on “Cubicle Furniture Rehab.”

This string of big-ticket purchases was an unmistakable sign: It was “use it or lose it” season again in Washington.

All week, while Congress fought over next year’s budget, federal workers were immersed in a separate frantic drama. They were trying to spend the rest of this year’s budget before it is too late.

The reason for their haste is a system set up by Congress that, in many cases, requires agencies to spend all their allotted funds by Sept. 30.

If they don’t, the money becomes worthless to them on Oct. 1. And — even worse — if they fail to spend the money now, Congress could dock their funding in future years. The incentive, as always, is to spend.

Too much money to spend so we spend it on shit so that it looks like we really need more money to spend on more useless shit. I just ebay some shit and pocket it for myself.

Yes, the Washington Post is becoming a worthless rag. There is actually nothing mysterious about end of year spending except to low-life dweebs who have no idea at all of what's actually going on in the world. FFXU is fairly overrun by these sorts.

Oh, Thank you, Mr. Know It All. Your knowledge is so superior. Shall we bow in front of you?

The idea of government agencies going on drunken spending binges just so they can consumer the funds allotted for their agency is totally idiotic. Granted, they think they have to spend, spend and spend because they will end up getting less budget money the following year, it seems kind of ironic that this surplus is present to begin with. After all, president Obama during the sequester reflected how agencies would not have enough money to operate within their budgets and would have to furlough employees ... yet they have surplus funds just confirms that president Obama is a toad and a lying sack of sh!t.

Yes, Congressman Gerry Connolly, you will still be able to drive around drunk as always, and will still get off scot free from your hit-and-run accidents.

State and local governments will still be active.

Goodby to all my FFU friends. Sad but true, if the
OPM's Office of Diversity and Inclusion has to shut
down we will all be dead within three days. It's been
nice knowing you.
