How messed up of Fairfax Co. PD to give a ticket out at 9:28AM for HOV violation and when i called in for a drunk driver on 66 they were quick to dismiss and say that they do not patrol 66 its for state police to handle...but when it comes down to it they do what they want...when they want... messed up!

No, the HOV-only lane outside the beltway on I-66 is 5:30a-9:30a.

And MiniCoop, we aren't fooled by the arrest time. Just because you were caught at 9:28 doesn't mean you hadn't been in there for miles. You knew you were breaking the law in your haste to beat everyone else to work. I'm glad these idiots get caught, especially MiniBloopers.

Truth. If you got the ticket at 9:28 than you were obviously in the HOV well before 9:30. If you're from the area you know the rules, and if you don't than think of it as a learning experience. HOV is enforced with FEDERAL money, and is a civil penalty. If HOV was not enforced the highways would be total chaos. As a reward for not clogging the highways with unnecessary vehicles (2 or 3 to a car), you can drive in the HOV. Don't try and scam the system, and if you do accept the penalty. The only violators I may feel for are the out of staters, and this only applies to I95 HOV or inside the belt. Most other highways around the country are HOV 2. However, there are many, very large signs indicating the rules.

One of my absolute favorite moments in traffic was while moving at a snail's pace on 66 in the lane next to the HOV lane I saw a woman in the HOV lane spot the trooper up ahead on the shoulder and frantically try to move over to the right. I sped up and blocked her from moving over. The expression on her face as she looked at me and realized she was screwed was priceless. It almost made up for the time I was rear ended in the HOV lane by a violator.

I'm sorry, how is that relevant? If she had a legitimate reason to be in the lane than the cop didn't issue her a ticket--and she wouldn't have been trying to get out before he saw her.

So, what the tool who blocked the lady in is saying, is that he was really just taking revenge on HER for something that never actually happened to him (ALMOST rear-ended once a long time ago).

Nice reading comprehension there, dumbfuck. I said it almost made up for the time I was rear ended, not that it made up for the time I was almost rear ended. The order that you read the words actually makes a difference--it's not good enough to just know what they mean. And that was actually just a side benefit, not the reason I did it. I blocked her because I resent following the rules while some bitch thinks her time is more valuable than mine.

Once, going downtown early in the morning, I had enough time to ride 66 eastbound for a few exits before HOV kicked in (6:30). Just past the beltway exit, there was a problem that WTOP traffic didn't mention at all (shocker, but that's another topic) which delayed me 10 minutes. Anyway, I knew I had to get off, so at 6:25am I exited onto Route 7 and was going to take it to Rt. 29 and head in. In front of me, on the ramp, a cop had another car stopped in the middle of the ramp. I couldn't pass either on either side.

I waited until the cop let the guy go and then the cop pulled me over and said I was violating HOV and he was being a real dick about it. I pointed out that my car clock, my watch, and my satellite radio clock indicated that it was currently 6:28 or 6:29 and that I had been waiting for 3 minutes for him to finish with the car in front of me, so in theory I would have been off the ramp at 6:26am if it wasn't for him. He said his watch said it was 6:31 and that it didn't matter what my THREE clocks said.

Took it to court. I told the judge that if it had been 6:35 am I would have admitted guilt, paid my fine, and wouldn't be wasting the court's time. The judged agreed and dismissed it. He basically said that time is relative when your talking a minute or two and that it was too close to call, but don't cut it close again, blah, blah, blah. The cop was pissed. He had some other tickets dismissed prior to mine. Probably a bully that wants to throw his authority around. I wish I had his name, but I threw that ticket away.

That is precisely what you meant, not sure what denying it is doing for you. I assume this is two anon posters posting with the same name... I can't believe someone would seriously try to backtrack like that when the meaning was so clear.

You victimized someone else for something that had nothing to do with them. Whether it "fully" made up for whatever way you felt you were wronged is irrelevant.

It's really quite simple--I'll walk you through it. It comes down to the difference between the words *implied* and *inferred*. You and REStonPeace inferred from my original post that I had blocked the woman from exiting the HOV lane because of an earlier accident. That is, you took meaning from my post that wasn't explicitly stated. You are now insisting that that is what I meant to imply. Strangely, you continue to do this even after I made my original post even clearer. How you can categorize the law violator as the "victim" in this case is beyond me. She knowingly and willingly decided to break the law by using the HOV lane when she wasn't entitled to. If I call the police when somebody breaks into my house am I "victimizing" them too? Lastly, it must be obvious to you that RESton Peace are not the same person.

See, pgens, we were wrong, clearly we were ridiculing someone who only posts concise, well thought-out statements, like the gem above. Also, he's right, being a vigilante towards an HOV violator is clearly on the same level as calling the police to handle an intruder.

Personally, I think it's outrageous that we have this one road that is all HOV at certain times. It's no different (in fact worse) than those hick towns that live on speed traps.

We've got this one road, with a special law that doesn't apply to any other road in the area, possibly in the while country. When I took driver's ed, I was never taught that there was such a thing as an "HOV road." As a person with a valid driver's license, I assumed I was free to travel on the public roads throughout the nation.

Instead of assuming things, did they teach you to read regulatory and other street signs in driver's ed? And what about toll roads? Are those roads that are "free to travel on" for anyone across the nation? Or just people willing to pay the premium?

I was busy trying to navigate through traffic. And no, nobody reads every road sign. If you put an official-looking sign up that said "no purple cars," 99% of people wouldn't notice it because nobody would think to be watching for such a sign.

With toll roads, you have to stop at a tool both and pay. They don't put up a little sign that says "pay toll here" and then pull you over half an hour later and give you a ticket because you didn't toss money out the window.

Most of the people on the road were violating the law, at least most of the people getting off at the exit that I did. The road would've been almost empty if only HOV people had been driving. It's a stupid law; we all pay road taxes and it's not appropriate to close off a road so a few local activists can just sail through while the rest have to take even more time to drive around.

HOV is such a joke

FCPD and ACPD could make millions each year just in HOV violations. thereis no threat of getting caught, so people violate,

I dive in on 66 (inside the beltway) each morning form reston to Georgetown. I leavemy house @ 6am and get off 66 at the key-bridge exit by 620-630 every day. one time I had the ability to roll down 66 (inside the beltway) @ 7am and again @ 4pm and the amotnus of single riders was around 20% I had two others with me, and it was amazing. ACPD and FCPD coudl post officers on each exit ramp each an every day or riding around in unmarked cars and write tickets for the entire HOV time non stop.

the only way HOV works is with enforcement. Kind like the toll road finally installing camera's to catch the violators who dobn't pay their tolls....

I remember one evening it took me an hour to get from Exit 75 (Rt. 110) to Exit 66 (Rt. 7). Turns out they were doing HOV enforcement between the Toll Road (when legit airport traffic has to bail) and Rt. 7.

Too much enforcement slows folks down and gets legit traffic to stop using I-66.
