if your child is a self motivated person, I would sugggest WGU.edu. My was was able to obtain her bachelors and masters in a total of 2 years.

NOVA is a legitimate school. Strayer, Phoenix. Devry, ITT etc are all FOR PROFIT schools. They mayke money mostly by targeting military and low income kids, getting them to take out wads of student loans, then giving them worthless "pay to play" degrees or no degree at all (a lot of these kids don't even finish and end up saddled with debt.) Do not be fooled by the for profit school scam. Do your research. If the school is not accredited by the state, run the other way. NOVA credits do indeed transfer to four year schools and an associate's degree from NOVA is a "real" degree, not a "pay to play" sham degree. Here's a link to some info. There is lots of info out there on this scam. Shame on these people. They rip off our returning veterans.

Yeah, do not do Strayer. I got my Bachelor's degree 26 years ago from then Strayer College and now I am a Project Manager at Northrop making a 6-figure salary. By all means, please go to NOVA and get your degree.

Correct. It does not matter where you get your degree. It only matters how you apply the education you received.

Are you saying it took you 26 years to get a Project Manager job making 6 figures???? And you're happy about that?

Depends who's paying for it. My employer paid so I went to Strayer
as the location and schedule was more convenient. And it is fully
accredited, so credits transfer. NoVA is excellent for a
community college.

I did my grad work at GW, so anyone who asks where I went to
school gets the GW answer. Much more prestigious and legit to
say I have two Masters' degrees from GW and let Strayer just
fade into the background. But it served its' purpose, as overpriced
as it was.

Wow, Matt, you must only be a highschool graduate if you cannot use common sense. Ok, here it is, I graduated 26 years ago. I am now just started my career so obviously I will not be starting in top management since I am just starting to learn the ropes of my profession. Over the years I have proven myself to my employers and they were gracious enough to promote me as I progressed. I am now in top managment and have been for 15 years.

Now I will do some math for you since I feel you may not comprehend. Most graduates from a 4-year college that just came out of highschool would be 21/22 years old when they graduate. I finished just before I was 22. Lets just round the age up to 22. As I stated I graduated 26 years ago. So lets do some math now. Channel your first grade math now Matt. 22 years old + 26 years of working since that age = 48 years old now. Now, take my age which is 48 and minus the years I have been in top management and that would make me 33 when I entered top management. 33 years old and in top managment, NOT BAD. Now take 15 years times a 6-figure salary and what do you get????

$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!

Now there are other professions out there that are not top management which pay a 6-figure salary but those professions I would say are definitely more specialized which probably requires a more prestigious school(maybe).

I hope I answered your question Matt.

neither unless your boss is paying you to.

don't study "technology" unless you are already lined up for the job. all they do is steal your work. way too many people doing it: if you are good or not your lost in crowd. also many that do it start young: your a little late! very late.

study something more solid that actually has job openings that aren't rigged or controlled by la familia and or don't require starting a business to be employed.

If your child has designs on attending a four-year university, NOVA's Guaranteed Admission program is excellent.

If your child studies hard, gets good grades, and takes the right courses, after two years he or she will receive an Associates Degree and, depending on GPA, guaranteed admission to a host of schools in and around Virginia, including the University of Virginia, William & Mary, and Virginia Tech.

See http://www.nvcc.edu/current-students/transfer/Search/GAAAdmission.aspx for the GPA and course requirements.

NOVA is considered one of the best community colleges in the country. It's cheap and you can transfer credits to four-year programs.

Have you considered welfare as a viable alternative. Free housing, free medical, free food stamps and a free kicking obamaphone. Think about it.

If you have to ask that question, than the answer is neither, at least not full time. Go send your kid into the workforce, they are going to end up in the same job anyway.

With the limited info provided, NVCC. The admission agreements with VA four year schools and low tuition make it a great choice.

Strayer and the other for-profits have a role in providing quality education to non-traditional students. They generally do a good job. In some cases students are just too stupid to receive a degree, and then complain the for-profits ripped them off.

Random... wow! you are correct! I am a Veteran and have been doing the 'pay to play' degree, and I didn't finish... again. I owe around $5500 in Federal financial aid... looking for a good college to finish my degree.

For all you who want to crap on NOVA just remember its the smart alternative to graduating with a crushing debt load. Live at home and go there for two years and save lots of dough. Then use the Guaranteed Admission program to transfer to a state school and get a good four year degree for much much less. Fucking brilliant!

Sorry to hear you were a victim of these ponzi scheme institutions. Try this on for size.

It's UVA's interdisciplinary studies program. You get the UVA degree without UVA prices. concentrations at the moment only include "social sciences" "humanities" and business, but they are expanding their degree choices. There are plenty of vets who attend the program as well.

To be fair, your original post did seem like you just got the position and you seem slightly retarded. Not in an insulty way. Just slow.
