Springfield man charged as voyeur, took photos at Lincoln Memorial

WASHINGTON - A Springfield, Va., man has been charged with voyeurism and assault on a police officer after police caught him at the Lincoln Memorial allegedly taking photos of women's private parts.

U.S. Park Police arrested Christopher Hunt Cleveland June 19, according to The Washington Post.

Police say Cleveland used a camera with a telephoto lens to shoot photos of women in dresses sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

An officer also saw Cleveland taking photos of women at the Reflecting Pool, the Post says.

When police approached Cleveland, a warrant says he tried to remove the camera's memory card. When they told him to drop the camera, they say he didn't and then resisted arrest.

On the camera, the warrant says police found photos of women's crotches and derrières.

Cleveland reportedly told police he didn't think taking shots of women's underwear was illegal.

A search of Cleveland's car reportedly turned up 150 PowerPoint slide presentations. Each had at least 30 voyeuristic photos, the warrant said. The photos dated back nearly a year.

This story sounds very fishy.

If the women are displaying their private parts in public places, the women should be arrested for indecent exposure. If the women were not exposing themselves, then it should be ok to photograph them, telephoto lens or not. They do not have an expectation of privacy on the National Mall.

DC passed a law a few years ago to try and cut down on the "upskirt" photos of girls. Oh well the guy is weird at 19 he should be out to try and get real pussy not beat meat to photos....A CHUMP

There are many women that get off knowing a man is peeping them out. I had a girlfriend in school that loved putting on a show for truck drivers. She said she likely caused many accidents on I-95 North in the morning.

I also had a girlfriend that liked to "show a little" and tease guys. She'd bend over with a short skirt or have a loose shirt on with no bra. Once she bent over you could clearly see down her shirt and nips.

What exactly is this guy charged with? If he'd been in Berlin for the Love Parade, he'd have found it impossible to avoid photographing derrieres etc.

I believe the term derrières has been replaced by the phrase Freedom Muffins in a show gratitude to the French who stood by President Obama's decision to bomb Syria while the British turned their backs on us.

That's what I was thinking. The charges should not stick, tho the printed pics might be sticky.

Even though the guy is a creep - I completely agree with you.

I don't understand this at all. Creepy yes. Illegal? I don't know.
