Does anybody know why the sides of main st in Vienna are lined with blankets, chairs, wagons etc.? Nobody is sitting in them and they have bricks holding the blankets down. really weird.

People put blankets down days in advance. We had someone get snotty with us for sitting in front of their blanket that they had put down "2 days ago" - what rights do you have from throwing a blanket down on the sidewalk? I think it should be 1st come 1st serve. This used to be a nice local parade, but now they allow everybody/anybody to march in it (Brownies, 4th grade travel soccer team, DC high school marching bands, any guy with an antique car, etc.) so it takes hours and it's hard to even get a spot to see the parade. One thing is for sure, it's the only time of year/day/night that you'll see no traffic on Rt. 123/Maple Ave. empty.
