Man on scooter killed in Woodbridge

A man driving a scooter was killed Thursday evening when he was struck by a car in Woodbridge.
Police said it happened about 6:05 p.m. in Featherstone Square at 14565 Jefferson Davis Highway.
The driver of a 2005 Hyundai Tucson was traveling east through the parking lot when they made a left turn into the path of a 2012 Hyundai scooter, police said.
The scooter’s driver was unable to stop and ultimately collided with the Hyundai. He was flown by helicopter to a trauma center, where he died Thursday night.
The scooter driver was identified as Ray A. Daugherty, 53, of Woodbridge.
The driver of the 2005 Hyundai Tucson, a 26-year-old Charlotte, N.C. man, has not been charged. The investigation continues.
