FFX county library calls and leaves message

Okay so they call and leave a message using an automaton that says "you have 1 or more library books overdue". When you call back they wont tell you what books are overdue unless you have your library card number handy (which is about 15 digits long). You could cite your SSN, Drivers License, mothers maiden name, and mortgage company, but it wont do you any good in authenticating your identity to the librarian due to the highly sensitive nature of overdue library book records.

Maybe we should all start using the library again and ditch Facebook.

Do you really want your library book list available to the public?

Then that copy of "How to Stop Bed-Wetting for Dummies" will be available for all to see.

Really, you won't even use your name/email when you wrote this, so maybe you should respect an institution that still respects the privacy of their customers.

And thanks to them, they alerted you to a fine that is racking up more each day. Anyone else wouldn't let you know until their fines were 30/60/90 days overdue.

Ingrate.

Maybe you should get your shit together instead of blaming the library for wanting its book(s) back.

Phew! My identity was stolen and the thieves were able to open new credit card and cell phone accounts. Thankfully the security agents at the library stopped the bleeding by keeping the evil doers out of my overdue book records! I am truly so thankful and will make an effort to return my books on time from now on. These public servants are truly honorable!

You can open an online account and see exactly what is overdue plus an advance notice when it is about to become overdue

Idiot, its about personal records, nobody but the card holder should be able to access your records on what you have checked out, so they keep it closed. All you have to do is have your number handy. Is it THAT hard? It's really simple, unless you are a dumb-fuck, then its complicated.

You should hand in your library card and never go back. That will show them! They will be sorry.

If someone opened an account in your name with your salient information, the books could become overdue and then be sent to a collection agency. And, you might have something embarrassing on your card that shouldn't be shared.

Plus, it's part of the privacy laws.
