Police Surrounding Apartments at Dulles Station

There is a substantial police presence on Sunrise Valley Drive, below Centreville Road, this morning. 7 cars pulled off the side near the woods, and then an entire block of Dulles Station Blvd., taped off with several more cars, with officers entering and exiting the apartments across from the Generous Georges. Reports indicate that the police are also searching the wooded lot there with dogs. Not sure what's up.

I saw some police further along on Sunrise Valley Drive near Frying Pan road when I came into work this morning. I saw them from the distance and it looked like they had setup an impromptu roadblock.

I witnessed the police presence around that area this morning as well. Listened to the scanner and from what I gathered, they had eyes in the sky and k9's on the ground, they arrested 3(?) suspects which were found laying in the woods.

Something was left behind that Herndon PD investigators were going to photograph, but I am unsure what that may be.

Unsure what the suspects did though. I would also like to find that out.

At 5:45 this morning they police were all around Sunrise Valley and the Dulles TOll Road with on person on sitting on the ground in the middle of the Dulles Airport road in handcuffs. I wondered what was going on -- they did not have any traffic stopped.

When I was leaving this morning for work (around 5:30) there was a black Jeep crashed into a light pole with 3 cops surrounding him on the median between the Camden and the newest building of the Icon.

When I returned from work (around 8:40) the Jeep was being towed away with a police officer standing by watching.

Three Suspects Apprehended After Armed Robberies in Loudoun and Herndon

Loudoun County, VA- Three teenagers are in custody after they were involved in a crime-spree in Loudoun and Fairfax County early Wednesday.

The three men led authorities with the Town of Herndon Police Department and the Fairfax County Police Department on a vehicle and foot pursuit on Elden Street after committing three robberies in the area. They were apprehended with the assistance of the Fairfax County Police Department helicopter and a K9 unit.

The robbery spree began around 4AM when the suspects entered the 7-11 convenience store on Cascades Parkway in Sterling, VA. All of the suspects brandished firearms and assaulted a store clerk. The suspects demanded money and took cash from the cash register and the clerk. The clerk was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Approximately 30 minutes later an attempted robbery was reported at the McDonald’s in the 1000 block of Elden Street. The suspects attempted to rob the fast food restaurant from the drive-thru window. A third robbery was reported a short time later at a second McDonald’s in the 300 block of Elden Street. In this robbery, the suspects entered the fast food restaurant, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash from staff.

“Resources from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office successfully worked with the Town of Herndon Police Department and the Fairfax County Police Department to bring a quick closure to this crime spree and remove these suspects from our streets,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.

As the suspects were leaving the area, an officer with the Town of Herndon Police Department initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and short pursuit ensued. The three suspects were apprehended and are now being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The vehicle used by the suspects during the robbery spree was determined to have been stolen from the area of Nations Street in South Riding, VA. The owner of the vehicle was unaware their vehicle had been stolen until after it was recovered.

Charged in the robberies is Darius T. Foster, 18, of Aldie, Jonathan A. Jones, 18, of Aldie and Samuel T. Johnson, 18, of Chantilly. All three suspects were charged by the Town of Herndon Police Department with two counts of armed robbery, three counts each of using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and one count of attempted robbery. They were also charged with one count of abduction and one count of wearing a mask. Charges are pending in Loudoun County for the armed robbery and auto theft.

Book 'em Danno looks like it has already happened and these guys are just stepping up their game. - from a simple google search -

Four were arrested April 7 in Chantilly after a conversation with a Loudoun deputy turned volatile.

A deputy was patrolling about 1:41 a.m. in the 25400 block of Eastern Marketplace Plaza when he saw several people in a parking lot. As the deputy began talking to the group, one ran from the area and threw a handgun in some nearby bushes.

After further investigation, Jonathan A. Jones, 22, of Aldie, was charged with a probation violation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Hakeem A. Brttion, 20, of Chantilly, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage possession of alcohol. Darius T. Foster, 18, of Aldie, was charged with a probation violation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and providing false identification to law enforcement.

All three are being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. A 16-year-old South Riding boy was charged with possession of a concealed firearm, credit card fraud and receiving stolen goods.

He's being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center. The case is under investigation and further charges are possible, according to the Loudoun Sheriff's Office.

Perhaps the answer to my question is that these guys are literally just idiots but how did they think this was going to end and wtf were they trying to do exactly? Steal a car and then rob a 7-11 (which I bet doesn't have that much money) and assault the worker, try to rob a McDonalds through a drive-through window (WTF??), and then enter another McDonalds to rob it. This is the epitome of stupid. How did they think their day was going to end? With dozens and dozens of dollars?

They could have sold their guns for more than they could have robbed all day. There's so many lesser offenses that would be 100% smarter that could actually make these guys money and this is what they chose to do. It just seems so poorly planned and executed. What a bunch of idiots.

I don't get why they haven't shown mugshots. Since each of them were 18 or older, don't they usually show their mug shots?

Two McDonald's in Herndon Robbed at Gunpoint, Prompting Police Pursuit
Three suspects are in custody.
http://herndon.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/two-mcdonalds-in-herndon-robbed-at-gunpoint-prompting-police-pursuit

Three suspects are in custody after an attempted armed robbery at the McDonald's on Elden Street in Herndon Wednesday morning prompted a vehicle pursuit with police into Reston.

Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery in the drive-through of the McDonald's at 1071 Elden St. in the town of Herndon.

According to Town of Herndon Police, unknown suspects had threatened a drive-though employee with a gun. The robbery was reportedly "unsuccessful," and the suspects fled in their vehicle.

Around 4:45 a.m., Town of Herndon police reportedly spotted the suspects' vehicle, still in the 1000 block of Elden Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects fled.

The officers pursued the vehicle all the way into Reston.

When the vehicle reached the 2300 block of Dulles Station Boulevard, the suspects stopped the car and they fled on foot, into the woods.

With the assistance of Fairfax County police officers, along with helicopter and canine units, the three men were located in the woods, and taken into custody.

After the suspects were taken into custody, Town of Herndon Police learned that another McDonald's, located at 330 Elden Street, had been robbed just moments after the first, around 4:40 a.m.

During that robbery, three suspects entered the restaurant and brandished firearms, and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspects also took a cell phone from a customer in the store.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the same three suspects were responsible for both incidents.

Fortunately, there were no injuries in either robbery.

The suspects have been identified as Samuel Tyler Johnson, 19, of Chantilly; Jonathan Andrew Jones, 19, of Aldie, Va.; and Darius Trenny Foster, 18, also of Aldie, Va.

Each of the men was charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery. Each was also charged with one count of abduction and one count of wearing a mask. All three men were also charged with three counts each of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Lt. Ron Thunman of Town of Herndon Police told Patch that the abduction charge stemmed from things the suspects said to an employee and a customer in the store at 330 Elden St., but clarified that no one was taken against their will from the store.

The three suspects are currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Sheriff: Three Suspects Robbed 7-11, Assaulted Cashier Before Robbing McDonald's

They were also found to have stolen the car they drove during all three robberies.
http://herndon.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/sheriff-three-suspects-robbed-711-assaulted-cashier-before-robbing-mcdonalds

It appears the three suspects arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly robbing two Herndon McDonald's at gunpoint have been busy guys, indeed.

According to a press release from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), the three suspects are also accused of an earlier crime spree in Loudoun County, including another armed robbery and stealing the car they drove during the McDonald's robberies.

According to the LCSO, the three suspects are accused of robbing a 7-Eleven store in Sterling before heading to Herndon.

The LCSO said around 4 a.m., the suspects entered the 7-Eleven. They brandished firearms and assaulted a store clerk. The suspects demanded money and took cash from the register and the clerk.

The clerk was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Thirty minutes later, the three men then allegedly committed their first robbery at the Herndon McDonald's on Elden Street.

Following the suspects' arrest later that morning, it was determined that the car the three men drove during the robbery spree Wednesday had been stolen from the area of Nations Street in South Riding, Va. The owner of the vehicle was unaware their vehicle had been stolen until after it was recovered.

The three men - identified as Darius T. Foster, 18, of Aldie; Jonathan A. Jones, 18, of Aldie; and Samuel T. Johnson, 18, of Chantilly - are being held in Fairfax County jail and are charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts each of using a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count of attempted robbery; one count of abduction, and one count of wearing a mask.

Charges are pending in Loudoun County for the armed robbery and auto theft.

Wait, officers spotted the car at about 4:45AM, pursued it into Reston, then caught the suspects in the woods after a helicopter and canine search - and THEN it was learned that the second McDonalds had been robbed back around 4:40AM? The customer and employee at the second McDonalds must have been threatened to be silent and put in some back room or some such.
