When you see a cop around here, they always look completely out of shape. Obviously they carry tasers, and guns just in case the suspect decides to attack with or without a weapon or makes a run for it. But still if the suspect is physically fit they can certainly put up a good fight or good run from a cop.

Do the police academy not care anymore about the weight of new recruits or is it after they become a police officer that they let themselves go and continue to go downward because there isn't a daily physical conditioning checkup in place. They don't need to be body builders with six packs and giant biceps, but seeing so many cops who look like they could fail physical conditioning tests in a blink of an eye is something nobody wants either.

They don't need to be able to run a 6 minute mile or squat 300. Writing tickets and lying under oath to secure conviction and protect your peers doesn't require much physical fitness.

I agree 100% here. The FFX area cops are females or wimpy thin dudes, or maybe a few overweight Super Trooper types. This not only looks shameful and shows how few physical confrontations they run into, it also creates more trouble for the perpetrator.

It seems back in the day, a cop - where I am from at least - could show up and seperate a fight with his bare hands. A cop back in the day might have been that knuckle head down the street who you knew was tough and you had respect for, atleast physically anyways.

Now a days, some real city cops are that way, but in places like FFX, forget about it. They show up to a shoving match between 2 teenagers and they start tazing and pulling guns out which IMO only elevates the situation to somewhere it didn't need to be taken to.

Guns? So that is the answer to every question? Guns? I even enjoy guns, but they are a last resort.

Not to mention that is a small part of the job, what about helping lift something into the cop car, being agile enough to catch a child abt to run into traffic, pick up, move, or carry a falen camrade....god I will stop here. Point is , ask any cop and they will tell you using their gun happens only occasionally and in palces like FFX a cop can go his entire career without even discharging his gun.

Ifs afterwards, especially once their probationary period ends physical standards end as well.

Not all are like that, but enough are that you can tell its a very liberal department by the type of people they hire.

You try walking around with a bulletproof vest on and see how slim it makes you look.

Theres actually academic studies that back that up.

Female cops are far more likely to use deadly force than their male counter parts because something a male could have handled physically they cant. Same goes with batons and tazers. Departments wanting to be politically correct let a lot of incidents get escalated very quickly which didnt otherwise need to be because they hired people that have very little physical strength or ability and have to resort to the gun right away
