Carjacking in Alexandria

Mount Vernon Police District – Police responded to the 6300 block of South Kings Highway on Tuesday, July 16 shortly before 4:30 a.m. for the report of a carjacking. Officers determined that a 58-year-old man had parked his 1992, four-door Honda Civic bearing Virginia registration XRJ8539 and got out to wait for a passenger. As the man returned to his car, a female approached him, implied that she had a gun and drove off with the victim’s car. There was possibly a black male in the front passenger seat of the Honda which was last seen headed south on South Kings Highway. The victim was not injured.

The suspect was described as black, early 20s, around 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds. She was wearing a dark, long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. There was no further description of the man who got into the passenger seat of the Honda.

UPDATE

Suspect Arrested/Stolen Vehicle Recovered

Mount Vernon Police District – Patrol officers assigned to the Mount Vernon District station located the stolen Honda shortly before 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17. Officers stopped the car on Richmond Highway near the intersection of Sherwood Hall Lane and found Nacole Diggs-McBride to be the driver. Diggs-McBride, 36, of 8216 McClelland Place in Alexandria, was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Facility on Parkers Lane. She was charged with carjacking and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The Honda was recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner.

Well, it was pretty smart thinking on the part of the carjacker. Who would ever think they would continue to drive the car around within a few miles of where they stole it from? Wait a minute.....
