Anyone drive on Picket by Fair City Mall and the Gas Tank Farm lately. Whats the deal with new parking lot they built behind the mall on the edge of the Tank Farm. It's been open a month and never seems to have anything parked in it.

Sorry for no Pics

School bus parking lot. Gated, with engine block heaters for the winter, and bathroom facilities for the drivers.

There are other threads here on it... basically Fairfax City owed it to FCPS as part of a land buy near GMU. They tried to build the bus lot at Woodson HS but the community objected and VDOT would not allow it without major improvements to the Pickett/236 intersection. So Fairfax City forced the tank farm to sell the land after a consultant told them that was the best available location.

One footnote to the construction. A contractor dug deeper than called for in the plans and found a pool of some type of fuel. Don't know how it was resolved, but it delayed the work for a couple of days.

A pool of some type of fuel? That can't be. Star Enterprises assured us years ago the leaks were sealed and the leaked petroleum had been cleaned up. It must be unicorn tears...
