11 people rescued from vehicles during flooding Thursday night and Friday

A flash flood Watch remains in effect for Fairfax County until midnight Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Rain battered the area overnight and into Friday morning, resulting in Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews making several water-related rescues.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. The National Weather Service suggests Fairfax County residents monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should the weather take a turn for the worse and Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
As of noon on Friday, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reported rescuing 11 people out of eight vehicles overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.
“The rescues were spread out all over Fairfax County. Primarily people in vehicles who attempted to go down flooded streets and got stuck,” said Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schmidt. “Fortunately there were no injuries.”
The National Weather Service reminds residents that more than 50 percent of all flood-related drowning occurs when vehicles are driven into hazardous flood waters. They remind drivers to never drive through flooded roadways as the depth, currents and conditions of the road are all masked by the high water and remain unknown. If a vehicle stalls on a flooded road and water is rising into the vehicle, the National Weather Service says drivers should exit the vehicle, move to higher ground, and then call 911.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schmid continued:
"One of the brain surgeons who attempted to go down a flooded street and required rescue said he was known as Dane Bramage on Fairfax Underground. He reported that he has had similar incidents in the past, including having to abandon his car during Snowmageddon. It appears this individual isn't the brightest bulb in the batch."

Why is Fire & Rescue fighting Mother Nature and the process of natural selection? Please, please, let the gene pool cleanse itself of these morons rather than risk the lives of emergency response crews!
