Imagine if Doara the Explorer came into your house and tried to whoop your ass?
Two women were assaulted during an altercation on Friday, September 5 around 1:15 a.m. The women answered a loud knock at their front door in the 7100 block of Layton Drive, Springfield. They were met by another woman who confronted them with a knife. A struggle ensued and the first victim, a 36-year-old Alexandria-area woman, was cut in the hand and forced to the ground. The second victim, a 23-year-old Springfield-area pregnant woman, fled into a bedroom and the suspect followed her. The suspect stabbed the second victim in the arm and the two again struggled. The suspect then fled from the apartment uninjured. Both victims were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, known to the victims, has been identified as Antonia Mendoza-Martinez; also known as Dora Mendoza. The nickname “Dora” is a result of her apparent resemblance to the cartoon character Dora the Explorer. She is Hispanic, 28 years old, approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall and 105 pounds. She was last known to live in the Springfield area. Mendoza is wanted for outstanding warrants for burglary while armed, aggravated malicious wounding and malicious wounding.
