Where can I play pinball ... good arcade ?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any places that have a decent pinball machine. Are there any arcades around? How about any at a pub? Wondering specifically about Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax area.

You know that is an excellent question. Sadly I do not know of any. Man have times changed. Put yer bud on the glass top to the side, throw a quarter in and play on...

Good times

Eight Ball is the best pinball ever invented.

When I was going to NVCC, I read a story about a pinball club. There no chess club, but there was a pinball club. I thought that was very telling.

John's (in Fairfax, but very close to Centreville and Chantilly) is by far the best public location for number of machines. Quite the dive bar.

Speaking of dives, the Vienna Inn has a Soprano's machine, and has cycled through some others (Simpson's Pinball Party for a year or two, a couple of years back), but an uneven floor. It has also been 2-3 years, but UltraZone (not a bar, a Laser Tag place) in Sterling used to have the most recent release on hand (I remember them having Elvis right when it was released, for example).

There is a place called Ajax in Herndon (retail seller) that supposedly has a number of machines available to play, but the couple of times that I have been out that way, it was closed to private parties. I have no idea what the deal is out there.

Be careful about any lists that you find online, they are notorious for being considerably out of date.

The Annandale NOVA campus has a nice little pinball arcade, at least it had one ten years ago. It was located near the cafeteria.

I don't think you have to be a student to use it.

I went to that Ajax place with a friend of mine who was buying a pinball machine. It's a pretty cool place. They sell alot of jukeboxes, stand-up arcade games, and pinball machines. They'll let you play the games, but it is a retail store, so it's not like you can just hang out playing pinball for hours. Good place if you're looking for old school home entertainment equipment- not sure how you'll fare if you go in there with the sole intention of just playing pinball. My friend did comment that their prices were expensive.

A "might" is not all that helpful. Go check it out and report back.

Not only that, the website has no indication that there is even a single pinball machine on location (or else I missed a link to something)! Nice try, though. I will try to avoid that place even if I find myself in the middle of East BF Loudoun County.

Vienna Inn now has a new or fairly new "Pirates of the Caribbean" machine that, for the time being, seems to be well-leveled and in very good operating condition.

I know I don't get there often enough, but God knows I surely try (apologies to J. Buffett)... John's Place is still the place for a good variety of games available to the public, which are in tournament play condition.

Not at all. I haven't been by there. Bob is always there, though; He rolls in late after the neighborhood teenage boys go to sleep!

THANKS! I've been yelling at bars for years to put in pinball machines. I always get the same answer, "Pinball takes up to much room in a bar and doesn't return enough money. The video games are more profitable,"

I LOVE PINBALL and having been looking for a good place to play for years. Now that I know John's serves beer and has pinball I'll be stopping by!

Found a review of the place:

I went up John's bar on Friday for happy hour. The place is certainly a dive with VFW type atmosphere. Everybody is extremely friendly. There are a number of pinball machines. Most of the machines where off so I had to reach under about halfway on the machines to flip the on switchs.

The machines are 50 cents. Some are very difficult to play. I jarred some them pretty good and never got a tilt light. Played a couple of games with two guys in one of the pinball leagues. They kicked my ass but pretty funny.
