What, where and how does someone over 40 stand the best chance of meeting living, breathing, walking humans in this area?

It seems more difficult to make friends as you get older, and even more so in this area.

Please hit me with suggestions.

Go to www.meetup.com and look for an interest group in the area

Try leaving your house?

*Go to bars during the weekends
*Get involved in some sort of club or group.
*Go sign up to be a lifetime member or a gym member.
*Go walk your dog at the vienna trail.
*Go to Starbucks regularly during mornings.
*Go to wine festivals or pumpkin festivals etc.
*Ask to volunteer for activities

I agree with the above posts...

Basically get involved in a sport or activity, you meet tons of people doing that. You can also volunteer for almost all the local organizations and non-profits. Bars/Clubs/Malls/Hangouts/etc are another option if that's "your thing".

Well, being new here myself I decided to try the bar scene hoping to find some girls out for girls night - they are often lots of fun to play with. And I did find what I was looking for but apparently the locals didn't like the new guy in town.

Many were staring at me but no one was talking to me despite attempts on my part to start a conversation. After 2 beers and 2 shots, I was flagged - haven't been flagged in twenty years and I didn't do anything loud nor bug anyone and was absolutely polite, as i always am.

Of course I will go back and see if there is a change after I am accepted as one of the locals, maybe they thought I was a cop (there was some drug activity) but I am not and don't care if people want to miss life being stoned all the time.

So, I have to agree with one of the posters here: define what you like to do and find a club in the area that shares your passion. It all depends on what kind of friends you are looking for.

Some of the people that posted replies to you, are not people you want as friends. Good luck.

You probably have no choice, it's that or nothing.

I personally don't like bars since I am allergic to their mainstay and most who prop themselves up in there. Never seen alot of quality there anyway.

Work was an okay place for me to meet women. I liked the ladies I met there

I have to say this site has given me an incredible amount of information. You see information goes both ways. In the time I have been on here, a little over a month, I have discovered alot of information that you and others have sputtered, that you should have never known, I never told you. Proof within it's self of what I speak, are you getting what I am laying down here, or am I talking over your heads again? Thank you for helping me with my case.

You know, I love message boards, I love sharing thoughts, ideas, and conversations with other people, and was pleasantly surprised to find one that was specific to the area I live in. There is a lot of great information on here. However, there's always someone like you that wants to shit in the apple pie. You rant and insult and write outrageous responses to serious threads, and something in human nature makes people want to either call you on your bullshit, or try to help you.

Personally, I am going to try to resist temptation and respond to anything you say anymore. I know you can't be as dumb as you're letting on, and if you really and truly are, then you're not someone I would rather associate with anyway.

I'm an anti-social goober, but even I know that all you have to do is A) find something you like doing, and B) go out and do it.

If you paint, take an art class. If you like music, go to concerts or local shows. If you like to read, join a book club. Finding people with mutual interests and building a relationship over time are the fundamentals of friend finding. It's not as easy as walking up to a random person and saying, "you seem interesting, would you like to be best friends and do stuff together," but it's not astrophysics either.

If you wanna meet people, go to one of Dommo's parties once he gets outa the slammer. He gets around.
