Centreville woman attacked, sexually assaulted

A woman was attacked and sexually assaulted at 14336 Silo Valley View in Centreville on Monday, September 22. Officers responded about 8:20 p.m. after a woman went to a house nearby for assistance. An investigation revealed the woman, a 42-year-old from Centreville, went to the home by appointment to sell some items. Her customer directed her to the basement were he attacked the victim and sexually assaulted her. He took her purse and fled in her car which was recovered a few blocks away. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, in his 30s. He was approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with an average build. He had brown eyes with medium-length wavy hair. He was wearing a light colored shirt and jeans.

The owner/tenants listed aren't necessarily connected to the crime, because the house was vacant--probably a foreclosure. This person seems to have gained access to the house for the specific purpose of planning this type of assault. All the more reason to be aware of the vacant houses in your neighborhood...
