firfighters stealing money

Im sure as you all know firefighters are collecting money at every street corner, they're running on the road and while it is for a good cause, do they have to be at every corner I got stopped 5 times today.

Stealing money?? I am sure it COULD happen, but I wouldnt say something like that unless you know something.

I saw them all over today also. Not an inconvenience at all and I gave them a twenty..

I trust that the firefighters are honest people and would never steal money from the citizens of Fairfax county. The police on the other hand.... Im way more willing to give money to the firefighters than the police

I think it would highly unlikely the firefighters would be skimming
donations. The ones to watch out for though are those Girls Scouts
selling cookies. I hear they are bunch of thieves and rogues.

I gave to the first ones I encountered, set the sticker they gave me on my dash and after that, at the intersections where they were, I just didn't roll my window down and they walked by. I assume they could see the sticker, and knew I had already contributed.

I bet the firefighters hate doing it as much as we hate the traffic back ups. Who wants to spend their time off out on the hot streets walking in traffic. Gotta give them credit, they all seemed to be smiling and appreciative of what you gave.

Hate it? I'm sure... These guys are on the payroll while they're doing all this charity work. They also have all that equipment out there on the street with them...just in case. How much do you think Fairfax County Govt is paying these guys while they're looking at a HUGE (@450 mil) deficit? Even if you don't drop money in the boot, you are probably paying anyway.

They weren't stealing money. They were financing their latest vacation to storm ravaged Louisiana. Anyone they "rescue" while there will be billed $1000 in accordance with the county policy of billing for ambulance service but FEMA will pay $10,000 if the victim dies.

The firefighters are NOT getting paid to work while collecting for the MDA. Last year they raised over 500k for the organization; due to everyone dropping in pennies to twenties; some gave 50 and 100's.

All the money that comes in from Ambulance billing goes to the COUNTY, not the Fire Dept.

Do you idiots seriously not READ???? They are collecting money to donate to MS research, something fairly altruistic and selfless, and yes something I doubt most of you have ever done. Seriously this entire website is just one colossal bitch-fest for the geeky and unemployed. If you dorks spent half as much time researching something worthwhile-like say a CURE for MS rather than bitching and moaning here about cops and firefighters, the world would be a far better place.

Those of you who aren't complaning and actually donated, you are exempt from this of course.
