Sarah Palin is trusted so much by the Republican party that she is not allowed to campaign alone or ad-lib at any event. She is just to smile, wave and read speeches prepared for her.

I disagree with Palin on many issues, but the misogyny directed towards her is going to really backfire. Women make up the majority of voters and it is will be harmful to Obama's campaign if this continues. They don't like it, and if it continues, it will likely make a material percentage of women single issue voters in terms of casting an anti-sexist vote - just what you don't want to do in a Presidential campaign where capturing the middle is all important. Supporters of Clinton are already furious as it is.

Obama of course recognizes this - to his credit - but he needs to find a way to call on his supporters to exercise focus and discipline here.

It is a sad commentary on all Americans that many voters will cast their vote for a candidate based on the way they look.

NPR has announced that the McCain campaign will not be holding a rally at the Fairfax high school "due to size accommodations." The event will instead be held at Van Dyck Park in Fairfax, 3730 Old Lee Hwy.

Wonder if they'll have a dedicated area for protesters...

The McCain website stills says the event will be at Fairfax High School. How brilliant to use a school that is in session. No parking at the school.

Another McCain and Palin cluster fuck.

I love the protest comments...you people talk about wanting peace in the world and how we should stop fighting and end the war, but you are also the first people who want to know where and when are we protesting!!! Makes a lot of sense!!!

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was pretty much the same way.

TB,

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Are you saying that protesting against war is somehow equivalent to: 1) invading another country under false (or at least misguided) pretenses; 2) killing tens or hundreds of thousands of women and children in the process; 3) letting our soldiers go to war without a clear strategy, exit plan or sufficient armor; 4) expanding deployment rosters and calendars; 5) voting against expansion of VA benefits; 6) allowing active duty personnel and their families to survive on bare minimums including but not limited to food stamps; and, 7) depleting our own readiness to respond to other military crises abroad or domestic emergencies at home? Oh, yeah, and what about not hunting down Osama bin Laden?!?! So which part of that isn't worth a peaceful protest, informed electorate and a change in political parties at the executive level?

We can't even get people (read: one-person per car) out of their cars to carpool during their commute on our major highways in the daily morning/evening commute....and the McCain/Palin campaign think Northern VA drivers are going to sit on shuttle buses to attend a rally? Talk about being out-of-touch with the constituency. Let alone the number of people in the area inconvenienced by the delays on those streets in the morning with the traffic/commute. Another example of stupid McCain/Palin campaign planning.

When i heard about this, the first thing i thought was Fairfax HS? WTF? THeres no parking there and acess to teh school is impossible (Rebel Run = 2 lanes)

Of course Van Dyck park only has a 2 lane road going in and out as well.

In the WaPo article some mom is complaining that the students are missing out on a great opportunity since its being moved. The park is within walking distance of the school. All the government classes should take a field trip.
