Afghan/Moroccan/Middle Eastern Restaurant

I need to bring a side dish to a Middle Eastern-themed dinner on Friday and might need to cheat a little if I get short on time. I really like the Afghan restaurant in Fairfax City (near Noodle's and the old Harris Teeter), but it has been closed for a while. I recall driving by a couple of places recently on Lee Highway or Route 50, but cannot place them.

Any suggestions, preferably for carryout. I am making a mixed vegetable salad and was hoping to add another dish to be shared.

For Afghan, go to Panjshir on Broad St. in Falls Church. I eat there all the time and it is excellent. Everyone I've ever taken there has loved it as well.

They also have a location in Vienna if that is more convenient for you.

Kabob Palace - Crystal City, either location, they are right next to each other.

Their palau is great, get some of that.

Much cheaper then buying kabobs for entire office.

I don't know if Pars is still there, but I ate there about 10 years ago and I still remember really liking it. A persian chick I used to hang out with always raved about the place too, which is a good sign as far as their food goes.

If you dont mind the drive, Atilla's in Arlington on Columbia Pike, near
Walter Reed is excellent also. They're cheap, delicious, and Turkish. (read
allies). My favorite is the Gyro's. Yum!

Thanks for the suggestions, but I am mainly looking for Burke/Fairfax City/Centreville locations. I will check into Pars and I just remembered Aladdin's Eatery near the Burke post office and firehouse.

Take the left overs from your refrigerator and dump them into a crokpot. Stir in a shit load of curry and cook over night.

The only one I ever knew about in this area is that place near Mt. Vernon Square in DC, but I am pretty sure it closed down about a year or two ago.

And if anyone knows of another Moroccan place, please respond to this thread!

Hey, that's the place I was talking about...not sure why I thought it was closed... I think it might be the italian place over there that is now closed.
Glad to hear Marrakesh is still there.

There's a Moroccan restaurant at Lake Anne in Reston. You could rock La Kasbah.

If you want lebanese food, The Lebanese Taverna at Tyson's is the best!

Lebanese Taverna seems to be hit or miss. The one in Arlington was a real disappointment on my last visit. We did, however, really enjoy 100 King in Old Town a few weeks ago and it is owned by the same people. There were four of us and we shared about a dozen small plates which were all outstanding.
