Kerosene near Springfield

Hey, does anybody know where I can get kerosene in or near Springfield? I used to go to the Shell on Backlick by the VW dealer but they laughed stupidly and said they don't have it anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Most Sheetz locations have Kerosene pumps but there are no Sheetz in Fairfax. Sorry but that's the best I can do.

I really really wish they were around here. I'm a big fan of that place (laugh all ya want, I'm not joking). The closest one I know of is way the hell out on Rt. 50 past the airport. Despite the long trip, I'll admit to driving out there more than once just to get some hotdogs and sandwiches.

I'd even settle for a WaWa in my neighborhood!

Sheetz and Wawa = amazing gas stations. We need some in FFX.

I go to the sheetz in Manassass park. its at the intersection with tlike 4 other gas stations (so cheap price) and the mexican place.

HEres a question: why are there no Sheetz's in FFX but i always see sheetz trucks filling up at the FFX tank farm?

I think that the tank farm on Pickett is a regional facility, so you will see trucks from a lot of companies moving in and out.

I would not be surprised that one of the issues keeping a Sheetz or Wawa out of FXCO is the high cost of real estate. A typical Sheetz sits on a fairly large piece of land and I don't know if they can make enough in food and coffee to cover the cost. I would love to see either nearby, but I don't think that it is a surprise that you see them in Warrenton and all along I-70 past Frederick.

Nearest kerosene to Springfield, I know of, is Clifton...Davis General Store (Shell station) at Clifton Rd & Wolf Run Shoals.

Oh, and most of the year, you can get it at Annandale Hardware on Backlick (between Braddock & Rt 236, across from Meapows Farms nursery). But when he runs out in Spring, he doesn't get more until cool weather starts. It's expensive there too, so if you need a lot, don't go there.

That's not exactly true, there is a big gas station joint (Exxon maybe) at the corner of Spring Hill and Rt. 7. It's as big as a Sheetz needs to be, but they don't offer the same ameneties or food. If they can afford that type of floorspace without even serving food, they can afford a Sheetz.

Thanks duh, I didn't realize Annandale Hardware had it, well maybe not now. I'll probably just go to Clifton. I just need to fill up a 2 gallon tank to use to clean a chain once in a while. It's just proving to be a pain in the ass when the one place that always has it suddenly does not. There's a Sheetz in Woodbridge off PW Parkway IIRC. Maybe I'll call them and see if they have a pump.

I'm in Chantilly so when gas prices were REALLY bad, I sometimes would fill up at the Sheetz on Rt. 50 at Poland Rd. Once you're in Loudoun the prices dropped a good amount. And that made-to-order counter = the shiznit!

Why no Sheetz in Fairfax County...

If you ask who is the Chairman of the FFX county Economic Development Authority. Then you will have your answer to your first question ..

http://www.fairfaxcountyeda.org/commission.htm

hemm? conspiracy anyone.. ooh ooh I love a good conspiracy...lol

This also may be the reason Costco was given some strange reason for not allowing costco to have gas stations in Chatilly or Fairfax.

I was trying to get a laugh out of it.. but I guess sarcasm doesnt translate well in text..lol

Everybody on here is looking for a conspiracy..a chance to blame the man...right? lol

I asked this question about 2 years ago.. and that was the lame answer I got.
I figured I would use it for a laugh..

Oh okay, I get it now, Take a Stand, I guess I ain't one of the conspiracy guys! lol

I think Lester is right...land costs too much in Fairfax County. You gotta remember, Sheetz is a tiny regional company...not even a pimple on the ass of an outfit like ExxonMobil, and the rest of Big Oil.

Sheetz might have just decided the numbers don't work.

To the OP: The Shell station on Rt 50 westbound, just before Metrotech Dr (Lowes, KMart, etc) in Chantilly has kerosene...

Back in the 90s, I was filling up at that Exxon. It was back when it had just two pumps and a lot full of junky cars in the back. It was a real run down "mom and pop" outfit. I made a comment to the mechanic about when the owner was going to sell since the land for the NADA and E&Y buildings were just sold for record money and the old Evans Farm sale was imminent.

The mechanic said that the owner was going to put alot of money into making it a big gas station etc with a convenience store etc. He said that the land was recently appraised at $25 million. And this was maybe 1997 or 1998..

I wonder if the $25 million of the land is still applicable?

I lived around here back then too. About 6-7 years ago they did turn it into "a big gas station etc with a convenience store etc". But they don't sell made-to-order shit like Sheetz or WaWa. It's big, a big convenient store like 7-11, but it seems like a waste. I don't even go there even though I live right by it. But I'd go if they had a made-to-order counter like they should. 25 mil seems like a lot but but when you sell gas the margins are pretty high, so I'd guess the property is probably worth it(?).

The margins are high on gasoline sales? You gotta be kidding. The profit on a gallon of gas is a few pennies. They only sell gas to get you in the place. They make way more on a bottle of pop.

I got it from the Sheetz in Dale City this afternoon. Got me a MTO steak sub while I was there which was awesome. Thanks everybody, back to your bickering.

http://www.sheetz.com/main/about/gasoline.cfm

ITs regional, yet it sells more gas than competitors.

Closest Wawa to here is in Woodbridge somewhere. ITs also a regional company.
