Moving and have Smartrip balance

I am moving out of the area soon. I have a smartrip card with quite a bit of money on it. Is there a way to get the money back? Can I sell the card?

I tried to google it. The only things that I could find referenced lost or stolen cards.

You can mail the card to WMATA and get a refund.

Card Refunds

If minimum levels of bus service cannot be provided due to an emergency condition, strike, or work stoppage, then customers with bus passes will receive a refund at the rate of 10% of the price of the pass for each weekday that bus service was interrupted.

SmartBenefitsĀ® which are not collected are credited to the employer at the end of the benefits period. Unused SmartBenefitsĀ® are not refundable to the benefit recipient.

Cash refunds may be provided to patrons whose residence is located outside a one-hundred mile radius of the District of Columbia, except for Metrochek farecards.

I'm guessing you're some Govt douche who signed up for SmartTrip credits from your agency but never/infrequently used them. How else do you get 'quite of bit of money' on a SmartTrip card - feed a few $100 bills into the machine by accident? Now you want to steal the balance for a benefit you fraudulently signed up for. Am I close?

Actually, no. I do not work for the gov't. My employer does not pay for my metro fare.

I moved from Fairfax to Florida and was able to mail mine in and get a refund. But they need specific info with it. We did have some government funds on my husbands and since they can't decifer which is personal or government they didn't give us any back and we had a lot on that card.
