Food stamps in Fairfax County

So what's up with all the people using food stamps? The other night I stopped at the Beacon Hill Giant on Rt 1 to pick up a few things for the office. The only check-out line with a cashier had 3 people ahead of me -- all "paying" with food stamp coupons. What a mess. It took 40 minutes for the cashier to sort things out -- approving some items, disapproving others and hopelessly trying to explain things to the "customers" who didn't speak English. I wish the supermarkets would segregate these moochers to their own line.

You answered your own question..."customers who didn't speak English."

That shit happens at the Safeway in Annandale all the time. They never have enough cashiers working and it never fails, every time you get close to the front of the line, the illegal whips out some of those coupons and has the wrong items.

Such is life in NOVA. It will only get worse. Pretty soon stores will only accept welfare customers.

Imagine how the cashier feels busting their hump in a thankless job stadning up all day. Meanwhile they scan thru people buying steaks and lobster using food stamps. Has to suck a big dick.

Wow, Virginia sure is backwards.

The other states replaced food coupons with EBT cards years ago.

Virginia also has replaced the use of coupons with EBT cards. The OP has exactly zero clue about how the SNAP program actually works, and is simply trolling.

When I got laid off from my good paying job, we had to use food stamps for about two years. The reason they take so long is, the food stamp coupons must match exactly what’s being bought. We really hated using them, because the cashiers have a special process for ringing people up and everyone hates doing it. God, I am so glad to be off them.

Did you load up your BMW in the parking lot after and drive to your McMansion? Everyone should be forced to pay the money back overtime when return to employment.

We didn’t have a choice, I literally went from working a job that paid 109K a year to working a security job for 7-days a week. This was during the economic crunch, plus we had just had a baby when I was laid off. We were on food stamps, we used coupons, and literally used what little money that was coming in, to get food at Dollar Tree. The severance checks were very low also, because I had been with that company only a year. On top of this, we got very little back on our Income tax. So it wasn’t like we were sitting home collecting unemployment.

So We all have to pay because you wanted to have a baby that you could not afford?
I guess maybe you should have saved up money when you had a good paying job..But that would be responsible and using common sense, too much to ask for these days.
