The chief of the U.S. Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Branch has been charged with sexual battery.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski, 41, of Arlington, was removed from that position Monday afternoon, Air Force spokeswoman Jennifer Cassidy told Patch.

Krusinski, who worked out of the Pentagon, was charged this weekend by the Arlington County Police Department.

At about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, a drunken Krusinski approached a woman in a parking lot in the 500 block of South 23rd Street and grabbed her breasts and buttocks, according to Arlington police.

The woman fought him off as he tried to touch her again, according to police, at which point she was able to call for help. He was arrested and held on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Krusinski and the woman did not know each other, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. She was not injured, he said.

Monday afternoon, Krusinski was removed from his position leading the Air Force's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Branch until more information could be obtained, Cassidy said.

"The thinking was it was best not to have him in this position right now," she said.

The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program "reinforces the Air Force's commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through awareness and prevention training, education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and accountability," according to its website.

Further, "The Air Force promotes sensitive care and confidential reporting for victims of sexual assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes," the site states.

Krusinski has served in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to Stars and Stripes.

Tuesday, the Pentagon is expected to release its annual report on sexual assault in the military, according to Wired.com.

Kaine Presses Air Force Officials in Wake of Arlington Sexual Battery Case
Arlington police charged the Air Force's Sex Assault Prevention chief With sexual battery Sunday in Crystal City.

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., pressed U.S. Air Force officials at a hearing Tuesday about sexual assault in the military, specifically noting the recent arrest of Lt. Col. Jeff Krusinski.

Krusinski, a 41-year-old Arlington resident who works at the Pentagon, was removed from his position as chief of the Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Branch on Monday. Arlington County police early Sunday charged him with sexual battery after a woman said he fondled her breasts and buttocks in a Crystal City parking lot.

“I just worry about the effects of this,” Kaine said. “There are all sorts of today effects of this event when someone is charged — particularly when a person overseeing a program to deal with victims of sexual assault is in fact, charged.

"But I worry as much about the tomorrow effects. I worry about the tomorrow effects on women who are thinking of making military careers. … I also worry about those women in the program who don’t commission but go into the civilian world, maybe with more of a concern that if this happens at the top echelon of the military leadership then it can happen in the civilian world as well.”

For active-duty servicewomen, the number of "unwanted sexual contact" increased from 19,300 cases in 2010 to 26,000 last year — a 6.1 percent increase, according to Kaine's office.

The Pentagon is expected to release a report later today that indicates about 70 sexual assaults involving military personnel happen every day, according to the Huffington Post.

Of those, only one in six are officially reported, and only one in 10 go to trial, according to Kaine's office.

“The stakes on this one are enormously high,” Kaine said at the hearing. “We need to worry about the morale of tomorrow’s military leaders and in that context I’m quite concerned.”

U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., a member of the Armed Services Committee, pressed U.S. Air Force officials Tuesday about sexual assault in the military. This still was taken from video of the hearing released by Kaine's office.

I worked with military morons for 30 years. These jokers all think they're God's gift and no woman can resist them. Looks like Jeff found one that didn't get the memo.

He should have stuck to raping the enlisted girls.
