I really don't think anyone is predicting this season won't be anything besides a miserable failure.

Portis, Moss, Cooley, Betts, etc, are real athletes. The problem is they have an offensive coordinator who has never run a West Coast Offense running a West Coast Offense and a Head Coach who has never been a head coach or offensive coordinator and, frankly, wasn't that great of a QB when he played despite whatever sports casters want to say about that.

Not really. While it's a derogatory term directed at an ethnic group, I'm pretty sure the level of outrage would be magnified 10,000 times if Snyder renamed the team the Washington N*ggers.

Though in reality there are considerably more Washington N*ggers than there are Washington Redskins in the Washington Metro Area.

I think it would certainly transcend the DC area. In fact, it would probably be an international news item and one of the biggest sports stories of all time.

These days many black people would embrace a team called the Niggers. They love the word more than anyone these days. In fact, it would have probably disappeared from todays vocabulary if it weren't for the fact that they keep using it.

They can't do much worse than the Nationals LOL Zorn seems to be very down to Earth. It will be interesting to see how he does in the regular season.

Oh, he's going to be very "down to Earth" this season. Brought down to Earth, that is.

There's something to be said about coaches who are complete assholes like Bilichek and Parcells. While there are a handful of great, nice, down-to-Earth football coaches (Bill Walsh, Mike Shanahan, Dick Vermeil), it seems like a lot of the nice-guy coaches can't seem to get it done when push comes to shove (Norv Turner, Wade Phillips).

While I appreciate Zorn calling out the O-Line for Saturday's debacle, it seems to me that Jason Campbell's inability to feel the pocket collapsing, find a hot receiver or roll out of the pocket contributed to the loss, not to mention the coaching staff's inability or unwillingness to make adjustments (3-step drop, more use of Tight End and Jumbo Packages, for example).

I thought the same thing about Campbell. He doesn't even look to see the way the pocket is shaping and he holds onto the ball way too long because he seems unsure.

If you look around the league at the elite QB's, they all have one thing in common, brains. Brady and Manning know exactly what's going on at all times, even when their receivers suck. They understand complicated defensives schemes and can call the proper audibles to adjust for it.
I noticed the Gibbs NEVER let Campbell call audibles. I think it's because he didn't think Campbell was sharp enough to do it.

Jason Campbell is the most boring QB in NFL history. Listen to any interviews and it's always the same banal script. He has no personality or identity whatsoever and it just doesn't seem like the rest of the team is behind him.
He just doesn't have "it".

While Colt Brennan may not be the long-term solution because of his inexperience and odd throwing style, the fact is the guy knows how to improvise a boot leg to buy time. I'm not saying Brennan is the future. But I haven't seen much improvement in Campbell in four years. He can't sense the blitz and he can't find a receiver in the end zone when he is within the 20-yard line. And, he can't hold onto the football when he gets hit.

Pretty bold claims, care to wager?

It pains me to feel this way about my beloved Redskins, but these last 2 preseason games have filled me with dread.

My Predictions for this season.

Jason Campbell will either get injured or yanked. He will have a league leading interception for TD return ratio if he makes it to game 8.

The offensive line and corners will suffer their usual catastrophic injuries.

Players will create a small rebellion and distraction because of Jim Zorn's fining policies.

Defense will allow way too many points scored, and most of the good teams will finish the game by the end of the first half.

Record for this season. 6-10

I really hope I'm wrong about all of these things.

Who's a thug on the Redskins? other than an occassional DWI or Reckless driving, the Skins stay out of trouble.

Snyder should change the name of the team to The Washington Jewboys.

colt is behaving now, but believe me, he's still a thug. we will hear about him and an "indiscretion" within three seasons. You can add that tot he predictions above or just bank it on its own.

I think Jason Campbell is a talent - but not one that will ultimately succeed in the NFL. He physically exemplifies what scouts look for - big body, strong arm and the like - but is not comfortable in the pocket, is indecisive, and worse yet, has a slow release which in turn leads to sacks and fumbles and also unfortunately contributes to his indecisiveness. And the thought of his slow release in a West Coast quick style passing offense makes me cringe. Playing quarterback requires more than a strong arm - otherwise the world's top javelin throwers could play, and for a lot more money. Seems to be a nice young man, though - hope he proves me wrong.

None of this surprises me - because Snyder has not consistently let football people have the run of the operation. Cerrato seems to exist to confirm Snyder's judgments as opposed to being simpatico with a hard driving knowledgeable football staff with vision.

This is a 6-10 team this year at best. And I will be shocked if they do better.

OK, I specifically want these:

You already owe me $20, you can't "start" a back up in the third quarter. Starters and back-ups are mutually exclusive. I take cash only.

This is a technical impossibility as a game cannot be official until it has been played for the full 60 minutes or it has been terminated by the league. That's $40 you owe me.

By my accounting you already owe me $40 before the game has started and statistically speaking you are looking pretty bad in the other three.
