if you take your scooter on the w&od trail at night you can get from sterling to vienna in 1/4 - 1/3 the time it would otherwise take. in case anyone wanted to know.

At night? I hope you don't hit a deer or raccoon with that scooter.......or some minority rapist/groper.

that trail would be a good escape route if something "bad" happened downtown, and you owned a motorcycle / dirtbike.

police patrol the shit out of the w&od trail at night ever since those joggers got groped, and if you're lucky enough to avoid hitting someone walking, your dumbass will most assuredly be arrested because you can't ride a moterized vehicle on the trail, fuck i hate you, you fuck.

Do they really patrol the trail at night? I would have thought they'd be too lazy to do that unless they take their patrol car down the trail.

I used to ride my 4 wheeler on the trail at night. Once police tried to chase me, That lasted for about 30 seconds before I lost them. Some of his co-workers were waiting for me at the next intersection there on Shreve Rd. They were in cruisers, they had no chance at all.

The quad does about 55-60mph on pavement and it had dual headlights. I could have seen any people or deer that would have been in front of me. Barring a cop on dirtbike there is about a zero chance that they could catch you on a quad.

You do know the police have dirt bikes...right?

Do it enough and they will make a point to catch you.

Police rarely use their dirt bikes. I only see them AFTER some type of incident.

If you walk the W AND OD trail during rush hour you might be able to get from Sterling to Vienna in 1/2 the time it takes to get there on route 7.

If VDOT had brains, they would've put up a bike trail parallel to the Silver Line to Tysons. That would be a 15-30 minute ride for most people.

I like that.

Some tricky engineering around the stations etc to get on/off, but makes a lot of sense

Right through the Herndon-Reston-Tysons corridor and dead flat

Right on! If you're going to get raped/groped, at least make sure that the rapist/groper is white.

There/their/they're.

For the love of Pete, learn what each means and how to use each in a sentence.

I have jogged on the W&OD Trail at night between Vienna and Hunter Mill Road. Twice I have had a deer jump right out in front of me, and I was wearing a blinking light.

Good luck when you drive into that deer and fall 15 feet off the side of the trail.
That could be exciting. If you fall into the creek beside the trail, at least you won't start a fire with your motorized bike.

It is unpopular to charge tolls on bicycles and bicyclists aren't fare-paying riders.

Not that I really care much since I don't live near the W&OD anymore but just FYI that Bell 429 the FCPD has will fly faster sideways than your quad will go.

I realize it's kind of trivial to send Fairfax 1 after someone riding a quad down the W&OD but I've seen them use it to bust underage drinking parties, so...

They use it once in a while for missing persons etc, I've seen the thing running parallel to the trail a couple times, it's deffinately not hard to miss/hear
