Rite Aid at Pickett closing Sept 3

Was in there today and asked when the Sunny's Surplus had closed up and told the Rite Aid was closing Sept. 3. I guess more accurately that's Turnpike shopping Center. The elimination of the left turn lane into that shopping center has really destroyed the place. Wonder why VDOT did not widened Pickett Road going towards Little River Turnpike? seems like there was room for expanding a lane into the Turnpike property. This way could have kept the left turn lane into that shopping center. Did the owners of the shopping center object to the widening and now turns out to be big mistake?
I noticed across Pickett that the 7/11 had closed down a few months back along with a few other stores. I remember frequenting that 7/11 decades ago after frequenting the old YMCA pool in the good ole summertime.
Rite Aid also closing down in Annandale/Big Koreatown
