Scott Chronsiter FairfaxCaps.org Director Investigated
Posted by: James ()

Scott Chronister never appears on the FairfaxCAPS website as a CORE member, but he is noted in several articles as the director of FairfaxCAPS?

Well it appears now that he has related business with DOJ and lost several consulting contracts to them. Guess who else works for DOJ, Stu Gibson the Fairfax County School Board member.

From the Herndon Observer:

"As a parent, I'm extremely disappointed," said Scott Chronister, who has one child at Oakton and one at Rachel Carson. "It's shocking to me the amount of arrogance that the school board has shown in the way it's manhandled this decision." Chronister, who is the director of FairfaxCAPS

Seems Scott has been involved in some shady under handed dealings with government contracts-

Washington Post Article "House Committee Probes No-Bid Contract at DHS"

"Chronister contacted one of his former colleagues seeking help for the office in July 2006. The consultant suggested an approach that would enable the Homeland Security office to hire him and another of Chronister's former colleagues without competition, according to documents and interviews."

The Washington Post Article:

"Our next move is continue our efforts to ensure accountability for the school board," said Chronister. "We need to sit down as a group and see if we want to appeal this decision. I think that it is very clear that if a circuit court could make such a decision--that the school board did not act in excess of its authority--we need to do something at the state level to fix the statute governing the board's authority," he (Chronister)said.

Seems that Mr. Chronister perhaps should have followed some of his own advice regarding accountability.

So since FairfarCAPS.org is an INC does Scott Chronister and his consulting company get paid? How was the $130,000 they raised distributed? 50% Lawyer, 50% Scott?

Big whoop! This happens all the time, If DHS's legal and contracting office approved it then it must have been ok. If GAO doesn't like it then fix the loophole.

That's the problem. People trying to find loop holes and rip us off in contracting schemes. DHS got their hands slaps for this contract.

Who cares, just how many people are you acquainted with who get investigated and whose names appear in the Washington Post in two articles regarding the subject investigation? You ought to care. This kind of corruption is damaging. I wonder what 'loopholes' Mr. Chronister will use to keep from going to SL? Will it be the 'slight hearing loss so my child needs American Sign Language route' to avoid SL and Herndon, or will it be something else? Inquiring minds want to know.

Like someone else said. who cares? every agency gets their hands slapped for something. This little stuff that appears to have been permissable, at the agency, at the time, is nothing. Start taking a look at some of your big money wasters at DOD, NASA, HHS, GSA. And it only makes the WP when somebody is trying to make a political move to out something or someone.

You are the reason we, the American tax payer, paid $600 for a hammer. You make me sick!

Your stupidity makes me sick. The $600 hammer is a myth.

And if he does use loopholes to get out of SL he will join many others. It is not a crime if the approval chain signs off on it (as was the DHS contract and the SLHS principal/county signatures). And if this is the best that your inquiring mind can question, then yes, the damage is pretty apparent.

So if you use a stolen credit card it is perfectly ok as long as VISA allows the charge to go through? Got it.

Well, if he uses loopholes that require creative lying, he will be joining many others that have taught their children to circumvent the rules. Society does not thank them.

So if the contract is a gov rip off but only $500,000 then we shouldn't worry about it. Only rip off contracts that are $4 million are stealing.

I don't see this as huge deal. A lot of people rip off the government, nothing new to report. Your tax dollars have to go some place.

Maybe you should worry. He was never actually found guilty. They just investigated him for shifty practices.

ok, yeah, whatever "shifty practices" means. is that something like hitting the shift button too much? really, is that what the report said?

I wouldn't want Scott in charge of anything I was funding. I'm not saying he would do anything 'shifty' but I wouldn't trust him with my money.

I think there's a typical Republican suck-up letter from Scott's wife in today's post full of praise for Sarah Palin. You could probably take any other Fairfax CAPS hockey/soccer mom and she'd be an equally good pick for VP on the Republican ticket.

And what exactly is your point? I am a conservative and I was for redistricting and I like Sarah Palin. I think Sarah Palin rocks. WTF does that have to do with redistricting or CAPS? DOH!

It looks like Scott is a democrat as shown here by his contributions to the Kerry campaign. Maybe he just donates to who ever is contracting with his firm.

Look at what the article is saying - it's the government agency that goofed, not Scott Chronister. I WORK IN GOVT CONTRACTING - you should blame the Acquisitions officials for not following sole sourcing regulations - they should get their hands slapped, not the company that was awarded. And oh by the way, look at Connolly's $4 Billion sole source for the Dulles Rail. Anybody looking at THAT? I'm sure there are many other firms that can do this type of work -let us know what you find out...

So because the contractor took advantage of the tax payers we should blame the government?

That's like saying a murder should be allowed to work free because the government didn't prevent the act.

This one has been resurrected by Jack Dale and the school board because Scott and Faircaps helped beat down FCPS plans to spend $130 million dollars on Gatehouse II.

If anyone needs to be investigated it is Dale and the entire school board for what they have done and what they have failed to do.
