It's because of all the stuffy suits with top-secret clearances around here. Everyone is scared to smoke a little pot or drink a few beers to loosen up or go out for some harmless debauchery (like skinnydipping, urban exploring, and such, you know you did it back in the day as a teen!) or else risk their clearance/job. So everyone around here is scared to do anything to seem "different" or "not normal" and that creates the cookie-cutter boring stuffy people you see around you. Three issues with NoVa.

3. The illegals. My god, 25% of the blacks smoke crack, steal, and smash stuff, but the illegals kill good people with drunken cars driven under fake licenses, stab, and rape, all while blasting shitty screamed polka music. I can't even go into a 7/11, as they are all outside standing around looking to see if there is anything worth smashing a window to grab while I am inside, in between shitting around the side of the building.

I've lived in NOVA by way of Richmond VA. I liked both. Former Marine and got pussy all the time. Richmond is better for lack of traffic. But NOVA was better for things to do and generally speaking you can make 20-30% more. But you then are spending the extra money on commuting and cost of living. So?

Northern Virginia is not a wonderful place....However, I have lived in some very cool towns such as Charleston, SC/Nashville TN....both of these towns are rich in culture and have gorgeous women, great night life, etc.
The thing is...wherever you go...there you are....
your perception of life and your surroundings do not change....the new excitement and experiences brought on to you by new locations will soon fade....you will find yourself bored of your predicament....

Great thread. I was born and raised in NOVA. Lived there for about 25 years. Just got a job in North Jersey and I'm so fucking glad I left.
I traded in mcmansions, soul-crushing traffic and boring, stiff pricks for diners, die-hard sports fans and tight-knit communities that actually give a shit about one another.
My only regret is that it took me so long to get the fuck out. Northern Virginia is the most plastic, boring place in America.

I fucking hate this area and I live in a Restoration Hardware furnished McMansion inside the top zip codes. I don't drive a BMW anymore (been there, done that, and it gets old), but I can't imagine having a BMW would improve the experience of this shithole.
Having lived in the top cities of the world, here are my observations on why this area sucks donkey dick.
1. Too many assholes sucking the public teet, but claiming to be free market capitalists.
2. Too many PhDs, but all from SHit schools (non-Ivy, non-OxBridge, non-Grande E'cole).
3. Too many lawyers from Good Schools here. That means they are the world's best assholes.
4. The many Fresh of the boat Asians, Mexicans and of course the Blacks.
5. Too materialistic, but absolutely zero taste. People in Nova are all nouveau riche with no taste, education or refinement. They think driving a Porsche means wealth (LOL). I can tell that just by looking at the way you are dressed.

Experienced young man has the right answer!!! As I have recently found out myself. Within myself. No one helped me. I found out by myself. I question what most guys question themselves on this topic. Is it, the area or is it just your mind... If you think about it. What if you lived in Los Angeles... Or Las Vegas. Wouldn't the same things start creeping in your mind. That girls go for rich guys or girls are this and that.... Life is what you make of it. So don't stress so much about things you cant control, like women... The right one will find you... You don't have to rush and be desperate and make excuses why, you cant find one RIGHT NOW. Your time will come... Also about the area... It does suck at times... Nothing fun to do... But if you think about it, there is things you can do... You can study and get a certificate, you can get degrees.. you can make a lot of money in this town. And then go travel and relief your soul a bit. Until you find someone. Another thing... Don't waste your time, just keep working.. Keep finding yourself. And understand that everything you want, every other person wants as well. You want to be happy.. You find happiness within yourself. Not another thing or person. Find yourself before you die and you will have lived a good life. If you don't find that women or become rich wont leave you unhappy in life. Not finding yourself and what makes yourself happy will. Be happy! Whatever way.
