We live in the amberleigh neighborhood and sombebody tried to gain access to my house earlier today while my daughter was home by herself. he was either an indian/middle eastern decent. he was asking my daughter to let him in the house and was trying to break the lock open. cops arrived about 15 minutes later but the asshole was already gone. any known incidents in the area?

Teach your daughter to shoot. There's no reason when some one is actively trying to break in that they can't be shot, particularly by a minor home alone.

Here you go, I'll help. The majority of robberies that occur actually occur at the hands of acquaintances. You're brown, he was brown, may be someone familiar with your family somehow. Either directly to you or through someone you know. Has anyone you know been picked up from your home lately.

It may be an acquaintance somehow because the person may have some reason to test whether your door is locked and still be able to deny attempted unlawful entry with some excuse. That's how it seems the person went about it.

It's either that or your daughter may have over reacted.

OP - Usually the police officer or detective has information about other incidents in the area, not the underground. Did this indian/middle eastern guy leave a package? Could have been the UPS guy. Did he kick in the door or just knock on the door? Is your daughter 7 or 67? You story lacks details.
