What do you pay for your gym membership? Which gym?

I don't see how gyms can get away with charging people different monthly payments. Don't customers talk and compare notes?

I've been at golds since they opened in FairfaxStation. Immpaying $40/mo. I've spoken to someone who signed a contract in January, different location, who said her monthly rate would go down to $10 after a year or two. Pissed me off. I've asked them to reduce my rate, but they won't.

I highly doubt anyones membership at any Golds in this area is going to go down to $10 in a couple years. If anything it will rise $10 in a couple years. Unless she has some sort of hook up/employee discount. No regular member is getting a $10 rate

Lifetime single is $85 a month; Families start at $120.

They say $0 enrollment fee, but then charge $139 for an "administrative fee" for new single memberships (but the enrollment fee is $0! cough*).

They also started charging an additional $8 per child under 12 for childcare facilities (that used to be included).

Read the contract. They're probably paying cash up front in a lump sum in exchange for lower monthly payments. Bally's used to do that before they went out of business. I paid $1200 for my first three years in a lump sum and $100/yr thereafter with a fixed annual increase.

Fitness First. $29 a month. Only a one year contract. After that it's month to month and I can cancel anytime. Love it.
