Riddle me this - Red Light Camera

Son of a bitch. Went through a red light earlier in Fairfax and immediately saw the flash go off as I passed through the intersection. Well, to make matters worse, there was a cop that saw me do this as well. He proceeded to pull me over. I tried to explain to him the camera got me so it doesn't make sense for him to write me a ticket. His response "take it up with the judge".

Can I really receive two fines for the same offense??

Since the cameras are operated by a third party/private company, I would pay the camera one first and then go to court with proof of payment.

Are camera tickets NOT moving violations? The cop's should be. If so, bring both to court and contest the cop ticket.

At least you'll have that going for you.

The camera ticket is not a moving violation... Id try what they said up there. Pay Camera ticket and show judge. You might win and besides, the worst that could happen is you'll be convicted of running a red light... Who cares about that anyways?
