The civil war was the worst thing to ever happen to this country.
We should do our best to forget about it.

Americans killing Americans, brother killing brother. Let it go and sell off all these so-called historic battlefields and put townhouses and walmarts on that land. Fuck anyone who wants to Re-Enact that horrible shit.

asa folksinger, I play a lot of places, and while I focus on more modern folk styles, I do some historical stuff.. and art gives a link to where people like ourselves were really at, what they enjoyed.. though it is not my specialty, for some folks, like the ren-fair folks, or celtic folks, or for that matter classical folks or hip hop folks, it is their whole world, their fascination. It was a terrible thing, and "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". Though I doubt we will come to civil war by arms again, we are letting divisiveness over differences of opinion turn to hate, people have been killed, and buildings burned, and our country is lurching from one crisis to the next, because of this same push to divide, often for political power, or just because people are looking for someone to hate, someone to blame, or just can't give others the freedom and liberty they want to have for themselves. There are many lessons from this war, and many terrible things in our history, like we are not perfect, and war is not a solution, but a problem, and diplomacy, compromise, and finding common ground are better than conflict, though there are places where lines must be drawn, violence is still not an answer.

zero percent chance your ancestors fought in that war, like mine. bet you are a recent immigrant or something.

You have to wonder about the type of people that get all dressed up and pretend to be Civil War soldiers.

I agree, but these battlefields are part of our heritage. We shouldn't destroy them.

Preserving battlefields is one thing, turning them into Disneyland with a bunch of weird old men firing blanks at each other is something else.

Sorry wrong season. Season 2 shows a California Gold and Larry does the Civil war, The actors are Doctors, Lawyers and other White Collar Workers, you need the money to be involved, I went to 1 meeting for the 33rd VA many years ago and the cost was very high to get involved.

Update: Cafe Twin Show Arts and Science Bridge


Conversation: The brutal partition of India and Pakistand and the ghastly suffering needs a separate forum and not this one.

Yes, that event in 1947 was during my father's generation, and his generation in India did experience it and growing up I did she the "pain" come back to his face suddenly throughout my growing up years.

Cafe Twin Show is a community outreach for enrichment via arts and science.

The way we pursue humanity, pece, prosperity and justice is via the existing "sister cities projects" that exist already for a long time and need new ideas and topics on the table, business to business (B2B) and Community to Community (C2C).

For example, Fairfax County has a "Sisterhood" program existing for more than 10 years with a similar community to us at Paris, France Metro Hub.

For India, I have identified Norfolk, VA and Kochi India's "Sister Cities" project exisitng since 2010 is a "good fit" to leverage B2B and C2C.

Purpose of the Norfolk Kochi Sister Cities project is to pursue "peace through people"

Cultural and trade delegations have already taken place and new ideas and new topics are now ready for conversations.

So, that's opportunity for building humanity,peace, prospertiy and justice through people and people to people, B2B and C2C .

An Unforgetable and inspiring Virgiinia Civil War Story
(How Mother's Day In America got Started)

This is my Mother's Day Song. Just published it few days ago, it's already in my top 10 list !

Until last weeek, Mother's Day 2013, 2nd Sunday of May, I did not
know how Mother's Day in America got started by a lady from right here
in Northern Virginia. Her family lived in Culpepper County, VA and at
17 she married a merchant and both of them moved to Taylor County, VA (before
the American Civil War 1861-1865 (now it's Taylor County, WV).

It's a memory of tragic time when Tuberclosis and Typhoid killed many children. Abraham Lincoln's 2nd Son Tad died of Typhoid in 1861 if I remember correctly just as the American Civil War came to a full blow.

Let me know what you think of the 3 Mother's Day songs and which one you like best.
